We are seeking an experienced and result-oriented Project Manager – Solid Waste Management (SWM) to lead and manage urban sanitation and solid waste management projects. The candidate will be responsible for project implementation, stakeholder coordination, team management, monitoring, reporting, and ensuring timely achievement of project deliverables.

Preferred Institutions / Academic Background

Candidates with relevant education or specialized training from institutions such as:

• WASH Institute – Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
• BITS Pilani – Water & Sanitation-related programmes
• Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) – WASH, Urban Sanitation & Solid Waste Management
• Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) – Urban Systems, Sanitation & related programmes
• All India Institute of Hygiene & Public Health (AIIHPH) – Public Health, Sanitation & Hygiene

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Project Manager – SWM , you will be responsible for the overall implementation and management of the assigned project. Your responsibilities will include:

Project Management & Implementation

• Lead and manage the overall implementation of SBM-U and Solid Waste Management (SWM) project activities.
• Develop project plans, timelines, targets, and implementation strategies.
• Ensure timely execution of project activities and achievement of project deliverables.
• Monitor project progress and identify implementation gaps and challenges.
• Recommend and implement corrective measures to ensure smooth project execution.
• Ensure compliance with project guidelines, timelines, quality standards, and agreed deliverables.

Stakeholder & Government Coordination

• Coordinate with Municipal Councils, Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), government officials, and other key stakeholders .
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with government departments and project stakeholders.
• Facilitate regular review meetings and coordinate follow-up actions.
• Represent the organization in relevant project meetings and discussions.

SWM & Urban Sanitation

• Support and monitor activities related to Solid Waste Management, urban sanitation, and SBM-U .
• Support activities related to Swachh Survekshan , certification, documentation, and related urban sanitation initiatives.
• Monitor implementation of waste management and sanitation activities at the field level.
• Ensure project activities are aligned with relevant government guidelines and standards.

Team Management & Monitoring

• Supervise and guide project team members and field staff.
• Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.
• Conduct regular field visits to monitor project implementation and provide necessary support.
• Ensure effective coordination between field teams, management, and external stakeholders.

MIS, Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain accurate project records, reports, MIS, dashboards, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare periodic project progress reports and management updates.
• Track project targets, milestones, outputs, and key performance indicators.
• Ensure timely submission of project reports and documentation.
• Maintain proper records of meetings, field visits, activities, and project outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Graduate/Postgraduate in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning , or a related field.
• Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in SBM-U, Solid Waste Management (SWM), Urban Governance , sanitation, or similar government/development projects.
• Experience working with Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), Municipal Councils, or Government Departments will be preferred.
• Candidates with relevant qualifications or specialized exposure in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Urban Sanitation, Solid Waste Management, or related areas will be preferred.
• Candidates from reputed institutions offering specialized programmes in WASH, sanitation, urban planning, environmental management, and related fields will be preferred.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of SBM-U and Solid Waste Management .
• Understanding of Swachh Survekshan processes and urban sanitation initiatives.
• Strong project planning, implementation, and monitoring skills.
• Excellent stakeholder coordination and government liaison skills.
• Team leadership and people management abilities.
• Strong MIS, reporting, documentation, and data management skills.
• Good working knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word .
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Problem-solving and decision-making ability.
• Ability to manage multiple project activities and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to undertake field visits and travel as required.
