Job Overview
A law firm seeks a Patent Litigation Associate to join its expanding Intellectual Property Litigation team in Washington, DC. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated matters with a collaborative team, take on increasing responsibility, and build strong client relationships across industries including software, telecommunications, life sciences, and aerospace.
Duties
Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents while conducting thorough legal research.Take and defend depositions, prepare and respond to discovery requests, and manage case files.Participate in hearings, trial preparation, and oral advocacy in federal district courts, the Federal Circuit, the ITC, and the PTAB.Manage competing deadlines and collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues on complex challenges.
Requirements
4-6 years of experience in commercial or intellectual property litigation.Experience in patent litigation is preferred.Membership in good standing in the jurisdiction where the associate will practice.Strong writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
Education
Law degree from an accredited institution.A bachelor's degree in engineering or a scientific field is a plus.
Certifications
Admission to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is preferred but not required.
Skills
Ability to develop or deepen a patent litigation practice.Experience managing cases and working collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
