Construction Project Engineer – MEP / BuildingsDonaldsonville, LA (Ascension Parish)Full-Time • On-Site• Direct Hire •$90,000 – $140,000+CONFIDENTIAL SEARCH — employer disclosed to qualified candidates at screening
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYHelp build a brand-new steel plant from the ground up, then stay on to run its buildings. A major international steel manufacturer is constructing a greenfield plant in Donaldsonville and is hiring a Construction Project Engineer to own the plant’s buildings and MEP systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fire protection). You’ll oversee construction from submittals through turnover, then lead maintenance of those same facilities once the plant is running. It’s a rare chance to get in on day one of a long-term project close to home, with a company committed to hiring locally in Ascension Parish.
WHAT YOU’LL DOManage construction of plant buildings and MEP systems, including offices, control rooms, maintenance shops and warehousesSelect, supervise and manage subcontractors, and keep cost, schedule, quality and safety on trackReview drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs and change proposals for constructability and complianceCoordinate field execution, inspections, testing, punch list, turnover documentation and warranty follow-upResolve field issues with engineering, operations, utilities, vendors and inspectorsAfter startup, lead maintenance and repair of plant buildings and develop preventive maintenance and inspection plans
WHAT YOU BRINGBachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or a related field3+ years managing building construction with hands-on MEP or HVAC experienceExperience working with subcontractors, submittals, RFIs and cost controlStrong organization, documentation and cross-team communication skillsProficiency with Microsoft 365PREFERREDIndustrial, manufacturing or plant construction experienceFacilities or building maintenance experienceKnowledge of building codes, OSHA requirements and construction quality systemsPE, EIT, CCM or PMPKorean-English bilingual (a plus, not required)YOU MIGHT BE A FIT IF YOU’VE WORKED ASA GC or owner’s-side project engineer, an MEP or HVAC contractor project manager, a construction manager on industrial or institutional buildings, or a facilities engineer who has managed new construction.
