About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Remote Electrical Design Engineer specializing in industrial automation . This fully remote role is perfect for an experienced engineer who excels at designing control systems and electrical schematics for manufacturing and process industries. You will collaborate with clients and project teams virtually to deliver robust and efficient automation solutions that enhance productivity and operational efficiency. Working from anywhere in South Africa, you will be a key contributor to our digital transformation initiatives, supporting our clients in the Welkom region and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical control panels and systems using CAD software based on P&IDs and project specifications.
• Develop detailed wiring diagrams, schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for automated machinery.
• Select appropriate electrical components, including PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and sensors, ensuring compatibility and reliability.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and software developers to integrate electrical designs into complete automation solutions.
• Perform remote troubleshooting of electrical issues and provide technical support for system commissioning and integration.
• Stay current with advancements in automation technology and propose innovative solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design engineering, specifically within industrial automation .
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
• Strong understanding of PLC programming principles, industrial networks (e.g., Profibus, Ethernet/IP), and VFD configuration.
• Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative team environment.
• Experience with HMI design and SCADA systems is advantageous.
