Role Description : We are looking for a PLC Programming Engineer with hands-on experience in industrial automation to join our engineering and project team in Kolkata.

The candidate will be responsible for PLC programming, HMI/SCADA integration, panel testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and technical support for industrial automation projects.

The ideal candidate should have practical programming experience with Siemens, Schneider Electric, and/or ABB PLC platforms , along with a good understanding of electrical control circuits, automation panels, field instrumentation, drives, and industrial is a hands-on engineering role involving both office-based programming/design work and site commissioning .

• Develop, modify, test, and troubleshoot PLC programs for industrial automation applications.
• Work with PLC platforms such as Siemens, Schneider Electric, and ABB .
• Develop and configure HMI/SCADA applications and establish PLC-HMI/SCADA communication.
• Understand and troubleshoot digital and analog I/O, control logic, interlocks, alarms, sequences, PID control, timers, counters, and process logic .
• Read and understand electrical schematic diagrams, control circuits, panel drawings, and wiring diagrams .
• Support PLC panel testing, FAT, SAT, installation, commissioning, and site troubleshooting .
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, VFD/drives, instrumentation, communication, and control-system issues.
• Work with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus RTU/TCP, Ethernet/IP, Profibus/Profinet , or similar protocols.
• Interface PLC systems with VFDs, sensors, transmitters, actuators, MCCs, control panels, and other field devices .
• Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, design, project, and R&D teams for project execution.
• Prepare and maintain PLC programs, backups, I/O lists, commissioning reports, testing documents, and other technical documentation.
• Visit customer sites for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical support.
• Analyze site issues and provide practical solutions within project timelines.
• Participate in system testing and ensure automation systems meet project specifications and functional requirements.
• Follow industrial safety procedures and quality standards during site activities.
• Stay updated with new automation technologies and contribute to improving RSPL's automation solutions.

• Hands-on experience in PLC programming and troubleshooting .
• Good working knowledge of at least one of the following:
• Siemens PLC – S7-1200 / S7-1500 / S7-300/400
• Schneider Electric PLC
• ABB PLC
• Knowledge of HMI/SCADA programming and configuration .
• Understanding of industrial automation architecture and control systems.

• Good understanding of electrical control circuits .
• Ability to read electrical schematics and panel drawings.
• Knowledge of PLC panel wiring, control wiring, relays, contactors, MCB/MCCB, power supplies, terminal blocks, etc.
• Understanding of VFDs/drives, motors, sensors, transmitters, valves and actuators .
• Basic knowledge of instrumentation and industrial field devices.

• Understanding of industrial communication and networking.
• Knowledge of Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP or similar protocols will be an advantage.
• Exposure to PLC–HMI–SCADA–Drive–Instrumentation integration.

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication, or related engineering discipline .
• Candidates with strong practical PLC programming and commissioning experience may also be considered irrespective of academic specialization.

Preferred experience: 2–5 years in PLC programming, industrial automation, commissioning, or control systems.

Candidates with strong hands-on skills and relevant project/site experience may be considered even with lower experience.

The selected engineer may work on projects involving:

PLC Programming → HMI/SCADA → Drives → Instrumentation → Electrical Panels → Industrial Communication → Remote Monitoring / IIoT

You will get exposure to complete automation projects from engineering and programming through FAT, commissioning, troubleshooting, and handover .
