The main focus of the role will be parts management and parts supply, ensuring the servicing and maintenance teams have the correct parts available when they need them. During quieter periods, you'll also have the opportunity to support the wider servicing operation, giving you a varied role and a good understanding of the full fleet maintenance process.
The Role
Managing the day-to-day parts operation within a busy fleet maintenance environment
Identifying and sourcing the correct parts for a wide range of vehicles
Ordering parts from suppliers and ensuring they arrive when required
Checking incoming parts against orders and ensuring they are correct and undamaged
Maintaining accurate parts records and stock levels
Issuing parts to mechanics and technicians for servicing and repair work
Monitoring stock and identifying when parts need to be replenished
Building and maintaining strong relationships with parts suppliers
Obtaining prices and comparing availability where required
Ensuring parts are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively
Identifying alternative parts where appropriate
Keeping the parts area organised and ensuring stock is stored correctly
Supporting with parts returns and warranty requirements where applicable
Working closely with the servicing and maintenance teams to understand upcoming requirements
Helping to minimise vehicle downtime by ensuring parts are available when needed
Supporting general workshop and servicing activities during quieter periods
Assisting the wider team with practical tasks when required
About You
We're looking for someone with a strong background in vehicle parts who understands the importance of getting the right part to the right vehicle at the right time.
Ideally, you'll have:
Previous experience working as a Parts Advisor, Parts Coordinator, Parts Specialist or similar
Strong knowledge of vehicle parts and components
Experience identifying parts across different makes and models
Good understanding of vehicle servicing and maintenance requirements
Strong organisational and stock control skills
Good attention to detail, particularly when ordering and checking parts
Confident communication skills when dealing with suppliers and workshop staff
Good computer skills and the ability to maintain accurate records
A proactive approach to sourcing parts and resolving issues quickly
The ability to work in a busy environment and prioritise competing requirements
Experience within a fleet, workshop, dealership, commercial vehicle or automotive parts environment would be highly advantageous.
A Varied Role
Although the primary focus will always be the parts operation, this is a large and busy site managing a diverse fleet, so there will be plenty to keep you occupied.
When the parts workload is quieter, you'll be expected to support the servicing and maintenance team, helping with general workshop activities and gaining exposure to the wider operation.
With the size and variety of the fleet, you'll be dealing with a broad range of vehicles and parts rather than being restricted to one manufacturer or vehicle type.
There is also the potential to work from home one day per week when staffing levels allow, giving you some flexibility once you're established in the role. xrexnqw
