Assistant Professor — Education (B.Ed / D.El.Ed) | BITE, Babatpur, Varanasi | Full-time, on campus | M.Ed 55% + PG 55% + UGC NET or PhD (Education)

Banaras Institute of Teacher's Education (BITE) , run by Purwanchal Educational Trust, has trained teachers at Babatpur, near Varanasi airport, since 2003. Our B.Ed (NCTE-recognised, MGKVP-affiliated, 100 seats) and D.El.Ed (NCTE-recognised, SCERT-UP, 50 seats) sit on a 23-year-old campus of 17 programmes and 5,000+ alumni. We are appointing three Assistant Professors in Education. A postgraduate degree in a Science subject is preferred.

THE MANDATE

The Trust is strengthening the Education department around four goals:

• Pupil-teachers who speak, present and carry themselves with confidence — personality development and English communication built into the Enhancing Professional Capacities (EPC) courses the NCTE curriculum already requires.

• A teaching-aids studio — an interactive panel with lesson recording and AI-assisted lesson planning — being set up in 2026-27, which you will help bring into weekly micro-teaching.

• Stronger school placements through the 20-week school internship, our partner schools and CareerArc, our on-campus career-guidance programme.

• Innovative educators — action research and published work by faculty and pupil-teachers.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Core:

• Teach B.Ed and D.El.Ed courses in your subject area.

• Supervise the 20-week school internship (4 + 16 weeks): observe lessons, give written feedback, work with school heads.

• Carry out action research and mentor pupil-teachers' projects.

One lead role, allocated by the Principal:

• The EPC strand — communication and self-development — including a weekly "Teacher Voice" hour; or

• The teaching-aids studio and AI-assisted lesson planning, with its review checklist; or

• The academic side of internship-to-offer: demo-lesson and interview coaching in English and Hindi, CTET/UPTET orientation, and the head-observed lesson in the final internship weeks.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE

Under NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations 2014, Appendix 4, para 5.2, as amended in 2017:

• A postgraduate degree with at least 55% in Sciences, Mathematics, Social Sciences or Languages, AND an M.Ed with at least 55%. For Perspectives in Education, an MA (Education) with 55% plus a B.Ed/B.El.Ed with 55% is also accepted.

• UGC NET (Education), or a PhD in Education awarded under the UGC PhD Regulations 2009 or 2016.

BITE's own requirements:

• A PhD in Education is preferred. A promising candidate without a PhD will be considered — for them, UGC NET in Education is mandatory.

• Three years or more of teaching in a B.Ed or D.El.Ed programme, in teacher-education institutions. School or other teaching does not count.

• Fluent spoken and written English and Hindi. Fluency in English is a must.

WHAT WILL SET YOU APART

• Teaching with an interactive panel or AI tools; NISHTHA, DIKSHA or SWAYAM course completions.

• Expertise in communication and soft-skills training — teaching personality development, communication or an "Understanding the Self" course.

• Academic-administration experience: coordinator, examination in-charge, HoD or IQAC roles.

• A working network of school heads in Varanasi and Purvanchal.

• Publications or completed action research; a PhD in Education.

• Something you built — a course, a lab, a method — and what it changed.

VARANASI CONNECTION

Candidates based in Varanasi or the neighbouring districts, or with roots in this region (hometown, family, or studied at BHU, MGKVP or another institution here), are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates willing to relocate to and stay in Varanasi are equally welcome. All qualified candidates are considered.

WHAT WE OFFER

• Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience — pay is not a constraint for the right candidate; paid twelve months a year. Regular appointment with a six-month (one-semester) probation.

• BITE submits every faculty appointment to MGKVP for approval under Section 31 of the Uttar Pradesh State Universities Act, 1973, and gives you a copy of the approval.

• 50 hours of professional development a year, counted.

• Micro-teaching and simulated-teaching labs, smart classrooms, and the new teaching-aids studio.

• Work with a visible result: teachers you trained, teaching in schools across Purvanchal.

SELECTION

1. A phone conversation in English and Hindi.

2. An online interview (video) for shortlisted candidates, so nobody travels for a first round; it may include a short online teaching demonstration.

3. One visit to the Babatpur campus: a 20-minute demo lecture on a set B.Ed topic to second-year students (slides; you may use the interactive panel if you wish — you get 15 minutes with it first), followed the same day by the Selection Committee interview constituted under Section 31 of the UP State Universities Act, 1973, with experts nominated by the Vice-Chancellor of MGKVP.

4. The Committee's recommendation goes to the Vice-Chancellor for approval.
