Role Purpose
The Senior Financial Controller will own end-to-end Finance & Accounts, Compliance, Taxation, and MIS Reporting across the organization, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and control at every stage of the financial close and reporting cycle. As a senior member of the Finance leadership team, the role will work closely with the CFO and business heads to translate financial strategy into disciplined execution - and will step in on select strategic finance, treasury, and fundraising-support responsibilities that a growing multi-entity business demands.
This is a controllership-first role with meaningful exposure to strategic finance - ideal for a finance leader who wants to build and run the core finance engine of a fast-scaling company while growing into broader CFO-level responsibilities over time.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting Operations (Core Ownership)
• Own end-to-end Finance & Accounts, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Revenue Recognition, Fixed Assets, and Payroll Accounting.
• Lead timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing across all entities.
• Prepare and review Consolidated Financial Statements for the group.
• Own MIS Reporting and ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of management reports.
• Build and maintain scalable accounting processes and standard operating procedures across a multi-entity structure.
Taxation & Regulatory Compliance (Core Ownership)
• Ensure full compliance across GST, Income Tax, TDS, and Companies Act requirements.
• Oversee Secretarial Compliance and ROC filings in coordination with company secretarial support.
• Lead Statutory Audits and Internal Audits, and act as the primary point of contact for auditors.
• Strengthen Internal Financial Controls (IFC) and overall financial governance.
Treasury & Working Capital
• Manage day-to-day cash flow planning and working capital optimization.
• Maintain and strengthen banking relationships across the group.
• Support debt servicing, liquidity management, and treasury operations.
FP&A and Business Finance
• Support the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), budgeting, forecasting, and rolling forecasts.
• Track financial KPIs and business intelligence reporting for leadership review.
• Partner with business leaders to evaluate profitability, support pricing decisions, and improve operational efficiency.
• Recommend and drive cost optimization initiatives across business units.
Strategic Finance Support (Partnering with CFO)
• Support financial due diligence for M&A, investments, and joint ventures as needed.
• Assist in preparing financial models, investor presentations, and materials for lender / PE / VC interactions.
• Contribute financial insights to Board-level and leadership reporting.
• Support post-merger financial integration for acquired businesses.
Risk Management & Governance
• Strengthen internal controls and enterprise risk management practices.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies across all entities.
• Identify and mitigate financial and compliance risks proactively.
Team Leadership
• Lead and mentor the accounting, taxation, and compliance teams.
• Build a high-performing, process-driven finance function capable of supporting rapid national growth.
• Act as a key escalation point for finance operations, deputizing for the CFO on controllership matters when required.
Mandatory Requirements
• Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA Finance is mandatory.
• Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in Finance & Accounts, with strong hands-on controllership exposure.
• Proven experience owning the complete accounting close, MIS, and compliance function.
• Strong exposure to Accounting, Taxation, Compliance, Audit, and Financial Governance; working exposure to FP&A and Treasury preferred.
• Experience managing finance teams in a multi-location / multi-entity organization.
• Exposure to fundraising, due diligence, or investor reporting is an added advantage but not mandatory.
• Strong process orientation with the ability to build scalable financial systems and controls.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
