Staff Backend Engineer – Java & Kafka | 10 years

Senior Java & Kafka Developer Location: Bangalore Work Mode: Hybrid Experience: 10 Years Employment Type: Contract About the Role We are looking for an experienced Java & Kafka Developer with 10 years of strong hands-on experience in backend development, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture. The ideal candidate should have deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Apache Kafka, Microservices, and complex SQL query writing . The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining highly scalable backend systems. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot . Design and implement event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka . Develop Kafka producers, consumers, topics, partitions, consumer groups, and event-processing workflows. Build scalable and fault-tolerant microservices and REST APIs . Write and optimize complex SQL queries involving joins, subqueries, CTEs, window functions, aggregations, and nested queries. Analyze query execution plans and optimize database performance through indexing and query tuning. Work with large datasets and high-volume transactional systems. Troubleshoot and resolve application, Kafka, database, and production issues. Perform performance tuning across application, database, and messaging layers. Participate in system architecture and technical design discussions. Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering best practices. Develop unit and integration tests. Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, Data, and Architecture teams. Mentor other developers and provide technical guidance. Required Skills Java 10 years of hands-on Java development experience . Strong knowledge of Core Java, Java 8/11/17 . Excellent understanding of OOP, Collections, Multithreading, Concurrency, Exception Handling, and JVM . Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, and Hibernate/JPA . Strong experience developing REST APIs and Microservices .
