About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager – Data Platform Modernization to lead enterprise-scale data transformation initiatives. This role is responsible for driving the successful delivery of strategic data platform modernization programs, enabling scalable, cloud-native, and data-driven solutions that support regulatory reporting, finance, risk, analytics, and enterprise data management.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of technical project management, Agile delivery, cloud technologies, data engineering, stakeholder management, and banking domain expertise . You will work closely with Architecture, Data Engineering, Infrastructure, Product, and Business teams to ensure timely delivery of complex modernization programs while maintaining high standards of governance, quality, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Program & Project Management

• Lead end-to-end delivery of large-scale enterprise Data Platform Modernization programs.
• Define project scope, objectives, timelines, milestones, and deliverables aligned with business priorities.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, roadmaps, and execution strategies.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, budget, and quality expectations.
• Manage multiple concurrent initiatives across distributed teams.

Agile Delivery Management

• Lead Agile delivery using Scrum and SAFe methodologies.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies including:
• Sprint Planning
• Daily Stand-ups
• Sprint Reviews
• Retrospectives
• PI Planning
• Backlog Grooming
• Coordinate sprint execution across multiple Scrum teams.
• Drive continuous improvement in Agile processes and delivery practices.
• Track sprint progress, velocity, and release readiness.

Data Platform Modernization

• Manage enterprise data modernization initiatives involving legacy platform transformation.
• Drive migration to modern cloud-based data platforms.
• Coordinate implementation of scalable and high-performance data architectures.
• Ensure successful delivery of data engineering, data integration, and analytics solutions.
• Support modernization of enterprise data pipelines and reporting platforms.

Technical Coordination

Collaborate closely with technical teams responsible for:

• Data Engineering
• Data Warehousing
• Cloud Infrastructure
• Enterprise Architecture
• Application Development
• DevOps
• Database Administration
• Platform Engineering

Coordinate technical dependencies and ensure alignment across multiple workstreams.

Data Engineering & Analytics

Work with engineering teams implementing:

• Data Warehouses
• Data Lakes
• Streaming Data Platforms
• Metadata Management
• Data Quality Solutions
• Data Governance Frameworks

Ensure technical solutions meet scalability, performance, and compliance requirements.

Cloud Platform Delivery

Coordinate modernization projects leveraging cloud technologies such as:

• AWS
• Azure
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Support implementation of:

• AWS S3
• Cloud-native storage
• Cloud security
• Data processing services
• Infrastructure automation

Technology Oversight

Possess a strong understanding of modern data technologies including:

• Kafka
• Microservices
• REST APIs
• Snowflake
• Apache Iceberg
• Data Lake Architecture
• CI/CD Pipelines
• Containerization
• Cloud-native architectures

Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure technical decisions align with business objectives.

Stakeholder Management

• Partner with executive leadership, Product Owners, Architects, Engineering Managers, and Business stakeholders.
• Facilitate cross-functional planning and decision-making.
• Communicate project health, risks, milestones, and progress to executive leadership.
• Build strong relationships across business and technology teams.
• Drive alignment between technical delivery and business priorities.

Risk & Dependency Management

• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues.
• Manage cross-team dependencies and critical delivery paths.
• Escalate blockers proactively with recommended mitigation strategies.
• Maintain RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies).
• Ensure business continuity throughout project execution.

Governance & Compliance

• Establish project governance frameworks and reporting mechanisms.
• Ensure adherence to enterprise PMO standards and delivery methodologies.
• Support regulatory and audit requirements for technology programs.
• Maintain project documentation, approvals, and governance artifacts.
• Monitor compliance with organizational policies and standards.

Financial & Budget Management

• Manage project budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation.
• Track project financials and optimize resource utilization.
• Monitor project burn rates and budget variances.
• Provide regular financial updates to stakeholders.
• Ensure efficient utilization of project resources.

Reporting & Executive Communication

• Prepare executive dashboards and status reports.
• Present project updates to senior leadership and steering committees.
• Communicate program risks, achievements, and mitigation plans.
• Develop KPI and milestone reports.
• Drive transparency across all project stakeholders.

Quality & Delivery Excellence

• Ensure adherence to project management best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support quality assurance and release readiness activities.
• Promote collaboration, accountability, and delivery excellence.
• Foster a culture of innovation and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• 8+ years of experience in Technical Project Management or Program Management.
• Proven experience managing enterprise-scale technology transformation programs.
• Experience delivering Data Platform Modernization initiatives.
• Strong background managing Agile software development projects.
• Experience working in Banking, Financial Services, FinTech, or other regulated industries is highly preferred.
