Job Description

FINANCE CONTROLLER

Build the finance engine for an early stage B2 B quick-commerce platform entering its next chapter.

Company: An early-stage B2 B quick commerce platform (backed by marquee investors)

Location: Delhi (Mathura Road) — work from office

Experience: 8–10 years

Reporting to: Founders

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a company in the middle of one of the more interesting transitions in Indian commerce. Having built and scaled a marketplace business to meaningful revenue, the team has repositioned around a B2 B quick-commerce model — same mission, sharper operating engine. The early signal is strong: a growing network of dark stores, real GMV, and a meaningful share of those stores already EBITDA-profitable.

The company has just closed a fresh round led by a new institutional investor, with existing backers continuing to participate. Think of this as a return to focused, founder-led building — the ambition of a scaled company with the energy and clarity of an early one. It is a genuine version-2 journey.

We are looking for a hands-on yet Handson Finance Controller to own controllership end-to-end, build the finance function largely from the ground up, and be a true business partner to the founders as the company scales over the next 3–5 years.

BUSINESS SNAPSHOT Team: ~200–250 people overall; ~60–70 at HQ. Model: A legacy marketplace business at ~₹200 Cr annual revenue alongside the new, core B2 B quick-commerce business — ~12 dark stores, ~₹100 Cr annual GMV, with 6 of 12 stores already EBITDA-profitable. Stage: Fresh institutional round closed - build-focused stage.

WHAT YOU' LL OWN

1. Controllership & Accounting Own end-to-end accounting, book closure, and statutory compliance across all entities — India and overseas. Transition accounting in-house from the current outsourced setup, including hiring and developing a lean, high-quality finance team. Ensure accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under applicable GAAP. Design and implement strong internal controls, SOPs, and approval workflows to reduce leakage and error.

2. FP& A, Working Capital & Banking Partner with the founders to forecast cash flows, track burn, and proactively manage working capital — critical in a dark-store, inventory-led model. Build and streamline working capital lines and banking facilities (OD, WC lines) with existing and new bankers. Monitor receivables, payables, inventory, and credit terms to tighten the cash conversion cycle.

3. Unit Economics & Business Partnering Build the finance lens on dark-store economics — store-level P& L, contribution margins, and the path from 6 to all stores profitable. Work with operations and commercial teams to structure order flows, pricing, and cost efficiently as the network scales.

4. Systems, Processes & Scale Move the function from tactical firefighting to robust, scalable systems. Evaluate and implement the right ERP / tooling for accounting, invoicing, inventory, and multi-entity consolidation.

5. Stakeholder Management & Due Diligence Be the single point of contact for auditors, tax consultants, and outsourced partners through the in-house transition. Own investor and lender due diligence — data rooms, reconciliations, analyses, and Q& A — as the company approaches its next milestones.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN 12–18 MONTHS The majority of core accounting has moved in-house, with a small, capable team in place. Internal controls and SOPs are documented and followed across entities. Working capital lines and banking relationships are streamlined, with clear visibility on cash and limits. Dark-store and cross-border transactions run smoothly and compliantly, with minimal last-minute firefighting. The finance function operates with a strategic lens — giving founders proactive insight, not just historical data.

WHO WE' RE LOOKING FOR

Must-have Qualification: CA (qualified)is a plus. Experience: max 8–10 years in finance and controllership, ideally with exposure to consumer, retail, commerce, or supply-chain-led businesses. Strong grounding in Indian accounting, tax, and regulatory compliance (GST, TDS, Companies Act, etc.). Demonstrated experience building or leading a small in-house finance team — not just managing outsourced partners. Prior involvement in fundraise / investor or lender due diligence, data rooms, and financial analysis. Comfort operating in an inventory-led, multi-location, high-velocity business.

Nice-to-have Exposure to setting up or optimizing working capital and banking lines. Early- or growth-stage startup experience where systems were being built, not just maintained.

You are someone who Moves comfortably between detail and strategy - you can close the books and design the process. Enjoys building from scratch and bringing order to chaos. Communicates clearly with non-finance stakeholders and pushes back when needed. Is proactive, ownership-driven, and energized by working directly with founders.

THE DETAILS Compensation: 50 lakhs fixed, plus meaningful equity. Location: Delhi – work from office. Why now: An early-growth-stage company, freshly funded, rebuilding its finance engine from the ground up — a rare zero-to-one seat with a business that already has real traction.
