RDK-B / Embedded Broadband Gateway Engineer
Stier Solutions Inc · Englewood, United States
Job Description
POSITION DETAILS
• Position: RDK-B / Embedded Broadband Gateway Engineer
• Location: 8560 Upland Drive, Englewood, CO
• Work arrangement: 4 days onsite per week, 1 day remote
• Interview process: Two rounds, with a onsite interview
IMPORTANT: The four-day onsite requirement is firm. There is no flexibility for remote work or additional work-from-home days. Candidates must be able to work onsite in Englewood four days every week.
Relocation candidates are welcome, but please confirm that they understand the contract nature of the opportunity, compensation, and onsite requirements before submitting.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Client is expanding its residential broadband gateway and Wi-Fi engineering capabilities. The team will work on embedded software and firmware supporting residential gateways, customer premises equipment (CPE), Wi-Fi services, and device management.
The work involves RDK-B and related embedded networking technologies, including development, integration, troubleshooting, and support of gateway software across Broadcom and Qualcomm-based platforms.
This is a hands-on engineering opportunity. We are looking for developers who have worked directly with embedded networking software, not candidates whose experience is limited to general networking administration, testing, or support.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
The hiring team is interested in engineers with the following experience:
• Strong hands-on C/C++ development in embedded environments
• Embedded Linux development, integration, and debugging
• RDK-B, OpenWrt, or OpenSync development experience
• Experience with Broadcom or Qualcomm networking chipsets/platforms
• Residential broadband gateways, Wi-Fi routers, access points, or CPE
• Networking protocols and services such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and IPv6
• Firmware development, integration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
IMPORTANT UPDATE ON ACCEPTABLE BACKGROUNDS
Direct RDK-B development experience is highly desirable, but the hiring team is also interested in engineers with strong OpenWrt or OpenSync development experience.
Please do not exclude a technically strong engineer simply because RDK-B is not listed on their resume.
Relevant backgrounds include:
1. RDK-B engineers working on broadband gateways, Wi-Fi services, or device management.
2. OpenWrt engineers developing or integrating firmware for routers, gateways, and access points.
3. OpenSync engineers working on Wi-Fi management, connectivity, and gateway software.
4. Embedded Linux/C++ developers with substantial commercial broadband gateway or networking firmware experience.
5. Wi-Fi platform engineers developing wireless services, drivers, HALs, or mesh networking functionality.
The key is hands-on software development on embedded networking devices. Generic embedded development experience without networking or gateway exposure will be less relevant.
ADDITIONAL TECHNOLOGIES OF INTEREST
Experience with any of the following is valuable, depending on the candidate's background:
• OneWifi / Wi-Fi HAL
• CCSP / RBUS
• WebPA / WebConfig
• Yocto / OpenWrt
• DOCSIS
• TR-069 / TR-181
• OpenSync
• Wi-Fi 802.11 standards and mesh networking
• Gateway provisioning and remote device management
• Python scripting and automation
• Linux kernel, BSP, driver, or hardware integration
Candidates do not need every technology listed above. We are most interested in understanding which components they have personally developed, modified, integrated, or debugged.
