Position OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Fixed Assets & Depreciation Accountant to manage fixed asset accounting, depreciation schedules, and related general ledger activities. This individual will be responsible for maintaining accurate fixed asset records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with fixed asset accounting, depreciation calculations, and reconciliations in a corporate accounting environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain the fixed asset subledger and ensure accurate recording of asset additions, disposals, transfers, and retirements.Calculate and record monthly depreciation and amortization in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.Maintain depreciation schedules for book and tax purposes.Reconcile fixed asset subledgers to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies.Review capital expenditures and determine appropriate fixed asset classification and capitalization treatment.Partner with accounts payable and other departments to identify and track capital purchases and construction-in-progress balances.Prepare and post journal entries related to fixed assets, depreciation, disposals, and asset adjustments.Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and supporting schedules.Support annual physical asset verification and maintain accurate asset documentation.Assist with internal and external audits by providing fixed asset schedules, depreciation calculations, and supporting documentation.Identify opportunities to improve fixed asset tracking, reporting, and accounting procedures.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.2-4 years of relevant accounting experience, with a focus on fixed assets and depreciation.Strong understanding of fixed asset accounting, capitalization policies, and depreciation methods.
