Controller (Non-Profit)

We’re hiring a Finance Leader to support the overall financial operations of a large Milwaukee based non-profit organization. You will help drive both short- and long-term strategic growth. This role is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, internal controls, and team leadership while ensuring compliance with accepted accounting principles and applicable grant and funding requirements.

Key responsibilities include:Overseeing the agency’s accounting systems, financial controls, and fiscal operationsLeading financial planning, modeling, and analysis to support organizational growthEnsuring the accuracy and compliance of all financial statementsManaging cash flow, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivableSupervising and developing Accounting Department staffSupporting a strong customer-service culture within the Finance DepartmentLeading the development and monitoring of departmental, program, and project budgetsReviewing financial performance against budget and communicating key variancesEnsuring compliance with grant, contract, and funding-source requirementsManaging budgeting systems and expenditure controls across operations and special projectsDirecting accounting system improvements, procedures, and operational auditsAssessing internal controls, financial record accuracy, and operational efficiencySupporting development and adherence to financial and purchasing policies and proceduresPreparing year-end audit financial statements xzbcwsv and required annual filingsProviding financial reporting and supporting materials for leadership and Board presentationsMaintaining current knowledge of accounting standards, nonprofit finance practices, and government grant requirements
Qualifications:10+ years of accounting and finance experience, at least 5 years within nonprofit required5+ years of supervisory experienceBachelors degree in Accounting requiredCPA preferred
