Job Description

Per Diem Evs Transport AttendantBristol Health, located in Bristol, CT, is seeking a per diem Evs transport attendant. This position is vital in the transportation of patients within the hospital setting, including those related to patient admission, discharge, testing, and transfer. It also involves cleaning and disinfecting equipment between patients, lifting and positioning patients as needed, and maintaining communication, respect, and accountability in interactions with patients and families.Essential job functions and responsibilities include:Transporting patients and material.Performing support duties.Cleaning and disinfecting assigned areas.Removing trash, hazardous materials, and medical waste.Performing safety-related duties.Demonstrating dependability.Seeking direction for and maintaining responsibility for own development.QualificationsQualifications:Educational/Minimum requirements: High school diploma or GED is desired but not necessary. Employee must possess basic reading, writing, and math skills as required to complete a skills survey during orientation.State/Federal mandated licensure or certification requirements: NoneBristol Hospital mandated educational requirements: General orientation at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Other programs as mandated by Hospital.Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to requests to transport patients to and from various destinations using a notebook computer, mobile phone, or alphanumeric page.CPR Certification (American Heart or American Red Cross- all recertification will be done through the American Heart Association.Experience in a patient care environment, preferredTraining in proper body mechanics.Special requirements:Good interpersonal skills to interact favorably with patients, visitors, and co-workers. Ability to work as part of a team.Physical requirements:May be required to lift up to waist level, on occasion in excess of 50 pounds, with free range of body motion so that tasks which require walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting can be completed. Prolonged periods of standing and walking for three or more hours at a time are required. Visual acuity corrected to normal. Hearing corrected to normal. Has the ability to verbalize so that the average person can comprehend.Work environment:Normal patient care environment. Employee is exposed to indoor and some outdoor temperatures, patient fluids and waste, wetness, dirt, odors, and chemicals. The employee also needs to be able to move equipment and patients throughout the hospital. Rapid pace and variable environment.Cognitive requirements:Has the ability to read and comprehend a manufacturer's label. Has the ability to read, comprehend, and execute written instructions in English.
