Job Title: Medical Coder/Senior Medical Coder

Specialization: Neurology

Job Summary: A Neurology Medical Coder is responsible for reviewing medical records related to neurological disorders and procedures and assigning accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier codes for billing, reimbursement, and compliance purposes. The coder ensures that all coding is completed according to healthcare regulations, payer guidelines, and industry standards

Required Skills

Strong knowledge of neurological diseases and procedures. Excellent analytical and attention-to-detail skills. Ability to interpret physician documentation and code accurately in both ICDs and CPTs. Effective communication skills for provider queries. Understanding of healthcare compliance and reimbursement methodologies. Proficiency in coding software and MS Office applications.

Key Responsibilities

Review and analyze neurology patient records, physician notes, operative reports, diagnostic reports and code accurately as per the documentation. Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT procedure codes, and HCPCS codes, modifiers, and units. Should be aware of LCD, MUE, and all the conventions of CPTs and ICDs. Should be aware of neurology-specific procedures Maintain coding accuracy and productivity standards. Participate in coding audits and quality reviews. Stay updated on coding guideline changes and neurology-related reimbursement policies.
