Senior Legacy Business Basic Developer (BBx / Pro5 / BBj)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Legacy Business Basic Developer with strong expertise in BBx, Pro/5 (Progression/5), and Business Basic for Java (BBj) to support and enhance mission-critical enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on development experience, a strong understanding of legacy business systems, and experience integrating existing applications with modern platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications built using BBx, Pro/5, and BBj .
• Develop new features and business functionality within existing applications.
• Analyze and enhance complex legacy codebases developed by other teams.
• Build and support integrations with internal and external systems.
• Troubleshoot application and data issues using SQL queries and system analysis.
• Collaborate with business, technical, and QA teams throughout the SDLC.
• Participate in design reviews, testing, deployment, and production support activities.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of hands-on development experience with:
• BBx
• Pro/5 (Progression/5)
• BBj (Business Basic for Java)
• Currently active in BBx, Pro/5, or BBj application development.
• Strong experience building new features and enhancements for enterprise applications.
• Experience integrating applications using:
• HTTP
• XML
• RPC
• APIs / Web Services
• Experience working with large custom codebases developed by others.
• Experience working in a formal SDLC environment.
• Strong Microsoft SQL Server experience, including SQL query development and troubleshooting.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience developing system-to-system integrations using both Pro/5 and BBj.
• Unix/Linux shell scripting experience.
• Experience with Business Basic technologies such as:
• Thoroughbred BASIC
• ProvideX / PxPlus
• MAI OpenBasic
• Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as:
• Splunk
• Dynatrace
• Experience in Hospitality, Travel, Leisure, Vacation Ownership, Manufacturing, Distribution, or similar enterprise domains.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Strong hands-on developer with recent BBx/Pro5/BBj experience.
• Experience supporting and modernizing legacy enterprise applications.
• Ability to work independently within distributed teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
