Role Overview
The Axle Unit Shift Incharge will be responsible for handling complete axle production activities during assigned shifts, ensuring production targets, quality standards, manpower utilization, machine efficiency, and smooth shopfloor operations.
The candidate should have strong exposure in axle manufacturing operations, CNC/VMC machining, assembly processes, and manpower handling within manufacturing plants.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production & Shift Operations
- Manage daily production activities in the axle unit
- Achieve shift-wise production targets as per planning
- Ensure smooth machine operations with minimum downtime
- Coordinate with PPC, maintenance, and quality teams
2. Shopfloor & Manpower Handling
- Supervise operators and shopfloor workforce
- Allocate manpower based on production priorities
- Monitor shift attendance, discipline, and productivity
- Ensure proper shift handover process
3. Machine & Process Monitoring
- Monitor CNC, VMC, assembly, and machining operations
- Ensure machine utilization and process efficiency
- Coordinate with maintenance teams during breakdowns
4. Quality & Rejection Control
- Ensure axle components meet quality standards
- Minimize rejection, rework, and process defects
- Coordinate with QA/QC for inspections and corrective actions
5. Safety & 5S
- Ensure PPE and safety compliance on shopfloor
- Maintain 5S and workplace discipline
- Follow plant safety standards and SOPs
6. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain shift production reports
- Record downtime, rejection, and productivity data
- Report production status to plant management
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma / BE Mechanical / Production
- 5–8 years of experience in axle manufacturing or machining production
- Strong shopfloor and manpower handling experience
- Experience in CNC / VMC / Assembly operations
- Good leadership and communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Axle manufacturing exposure
- Auto component industry experience
- Knowledge of machining processes
- TPM / Lean / 5S implementation
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
