We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance to lead daily finance and accounting operations while partnering with senior leadership on financial strategy, operational performance, and business planning. This position oversees financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, payroll, internal controls, and financial analysis.The ideal candidate is a collaborative, hands-on leader who can develop a strong team, improve processes, and translate financial information into practical recommendations that support organizational goals.Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Department OperationsLead, mentor, and develop accounting and payroll staff, establishing clear expectations and accountability.Manage department priorities, workloads, and deadlines to ensure accurate and timely completion of financial activities.Oversee payroll processing, reporting, and compliance.Build strong working relationships across departments to support effective financial management.Financial Reporting & AccountingOversee month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.Prepare and review financial statements, cash flow reports, and management reporting packages.Monitor assets, liabilities, working capital, and cash activity to maintain accurate records and support operating needs.Review revenue, expenses, billing, and project-level profitability, resolving discrepancies with appropriate stakeholders.Budgeting, Forecasting & AnalysisLead the annual budgeting process in partnership with department leaders.Maintain forecasts and analyze actual results against budgets, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.Evaluate labor costs, operating expenses, and profitability to recommend improvements.Develop financial models and provide actionable insights to support strategic decisions and capital planning.Internal Controls, Compliance & AuditsMaintain and strengthen accounting policies, financial controls, and documentation.Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulations, and contractual requirements.Coordinate with internal and external auditors, preparing schedules and responding to requests.Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, safeguard assets, and reduce financial risk.Systems & Process ImprovementEvaluate financial systems and reporting tools to improve efficiency and data quality.Support system implementations, enhancements, and staff training.Partner with senior leadership on strategic initiatives, special projects, and operational improvements.Maintain productive relationships with vendors, clients, and other business partners.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.Significant progressive accounting experience, including at least five years in a management role.Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and accounting standards.Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with financial ERP and payroll systems.Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to nonfinancial stakeholders.Sound judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to handling confidential information with integrity.CPA designation preferred.Experience in a complex, service-oriented organization is beneficial. xzbcwsv Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends based on business needs and financial deadlines.
