Job Description
We are hiring an experienced Fire Protection Designer to prepare fire sprinkler system designs for residential, commercial, and warehouse projects.
This role requires strong hydraulic calculation knowledge, code understanding, and hands-on experience with HydraCAD or SprinkCAD. AutoSPRINK is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Prepare fire sprinkler layouts and design drawings
- Perform hydraulic calculations using AutoSPRINK or other approved software
- Design systems according to building requirements and applicable codes
- Apply NFPA 13, NFPA 13R, and NFPA 14
- Determine hazard classifications, including: Light Hazard, Ordinary Hazard Group 1, Ordinary Hazard Group 2, Extra Hazard
- Determine sprinkler spacing, design area, density, pipe sizing, and water supply requirements
- Coordinate sprinkler piping with architectural plans and other trades
- Prepare riser diagrams, design documentation, and calculation reports
- Support revisions, field questions, and design coordination
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with HydraCAD or SprinkCAD
- AutoSPRINK experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic calculations
- Working knowledge of NFPA 13, NFPA 13R, and NFPA 14
- Experience with residential, commercial, and warehouse sprinkler projects
- Understanding of light, ordinary, and extra hazard classifications
- Ability to read architectural and building plans
- Good written and spoken English
- Able to work independently with strong attention to detail
Preferred Experience
- U.S.-based fire sprinkler projects
- Fire pump rooms, standpipes, dry systems, pre-action systems, or foam systems
- Fabrication drawings, stock lists, or material takeoffs
Important Note
General MEP drafting, Revit, or AutoCAD experience alone is not enough. Candidates must have real fire sprinkler design experience with HydraCAD, SprinkCAD, or AutoSPRINK.
