Zoning & Land Use Attorney | New York | 3+ Years | $250,000-$275,000 + BonusAJ Chambers are delighted to be working with a highly regarded New York real estate and land use practice seeking a Zoning Attorney / Land Use Attorney with 3+ years of experience to join its sophisticated development practice.

While professional experience and qualifications are key for this role, make sure to check you have the preferable soft skills before applying if required.
This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with experience in New York City zoning, land use, development and real estate regulatory matters to advise major developers, institutional owners, investors and property owners on complex development projects throughout New York City.
The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of the New York City Zoning Resolution, with experience conducting zoning analyses, zoning due diligence and advising clients on development opportunities, land use regulations and entitlement strategies.

Key ResponsibilitiesInterpret and apply the New York City Zoning ResolutionConduct detailed zoning analyses and zoning due diligenceAdvise developers, institutional owners, investors and property owners on zoning and land use issuesAnalyse development potential and development rightsAdvise clients on zoning regulations and land use requirementsAssist with zoning and land use applicationsPrepare and review legal memoranda, zoning analyses and other written workAssist with rezonings, variances and special permitsAdvise on discretionary land use approvalsAssist clients with environmental and land use review processesWork with architects, planners, consultants and other development professionalsRepresent or assist clients before relevant New York City governmental agencies and planning bodiesWork closely with senior attorneys on complex development projectsCommunicate directly with clients and other project stakeholders
Required Qualifications3+ years of legal experienceExperience gained in private practice and/or governmentStrong experience interpreting and applying the New York City Zoning ResolutionExperience with NYC zoning and land useExperience conducting zoning analysis and zoning due diligenceExperience advising clients on real estate development and land use mattersStrong legal research, drafting and analytical skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsNew York Bar admission or eligibility for admission
