Job Description

The Role

We are looking for a treasury professional to own day-to-day lender relationships and lead new lender origination. This is a hands-on, execution-heavy role: you will be the primary point of contact for our lender panel, run the data and reporting that lenders and rating agencies depend on, and take new relationships from first conversation through to disbursement.

You will work directly with the CFO on pricing strategy and negotiation, and will be expected to bring an independent point of view on where the market is and what we should be paying.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lender Relationship Management

  • Own day-to-day relationships across a panel of ~25 lenders and 50+ live facilities spanning banks, NBFCs, AIFs and family offices.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for lender queries, periodic reviews, site visits and audit requirements.
  • Drive limit enhancements and renewals with existing lenders, building the internal case and shepherding it through their credit process.
  • Maintain a live relationship map — sanction status, utilisation, pricing, covenants, renewal dates and key contacts.

2. New Lender Origination

  • Build and run a structured pipeline of prospective lenders, with a specific mandate to materially increase the share of bank funding in the borrowing mix.
  • Originate and lead first conversations with public sector banks, private banks, small finance banks, NBFCs and institutional investors.
  • Prepare and present the credit story — information memoranda, data books, financial packs and lender presentations.
  • Manage the full cycle from initial pitch through due diligence, credit committee queries, term sheet negotiation, documentation and disbursement.

3. Lender Reporting, Data & Compliance

  • Own the monthly and quarterly lender reporting calendar — data packs, portfolio cuts, stock and book-debt statements, end-use certificates and no-default statements.
  • Track and certify financial and non-financial covenants across every facility; escalate risks early and manage waivers where needed.
  • Build and maintain the treasury data infrastructure: borrowing MIS, facility-wise amortisation schedules, security cover computation and utilisation tracking.
  • Respond to lender and rating agency data requests with accuracy and speed — reconciled, consistent and audit-ready.

4. Pricing, Benchmarking & Cost of Funds

  • Maintain the borrowing cost tracker on an XIRR and all-in basis — not headline coupon — covering interest, processing fees, arranger fees and all ancillary charges.
  • Benchmark our pricing against market comparables and peer NBFC disclosures, and build the analytical case used in pricing negotiations.
  • Model the economics of competing term sheets and recommend which facilities to accept, renegotiate or decline.
  • Track incremental and blended cost of funds, and report the drivers of movement month on month.

5. Rating Agency Management

  • Coordinate annual surveillance and fresh rating exercises — data submissions, management responses and follow-up queries.
  • Maintain the rating agency information pack and support the roadmap towards the next rating upgrade.

6. ALM, Liquidity & Treasury Investments

  • Prepare the ALM statement and maturity ladder; flag mismatches and refinancing concentrations.
  • Run the rolling liquidity forecast and monitor liquidity buffers against internal and regulatory thresholds.
  • Deploy surplus funds across liquid and debt mutual funds, fixed deposits and money market instruments in line with the Board-approved investment policy.
  • Track yields, portfolio duration and counterparty limits on the investment book, and report performance to management and ALCO.

7. Instrument & Structure Execution

  • Execute across the full instrument set — term loans, listed NCDs, commercial paper, working capital facilities and co-lending arrangements.
  • Support the build-out of a direct assignment and securitisation (PTC) capability, including pool selection, rating agency and trustee coordination and investor engagement.
  • Coordinate with legal, company secretarial, operations and finance to close transactions cleanly and on schedule.

What We Are Looking For

Qualifications & Experience

  • Chartered Accountant, MBA (Finance) or CFA.
  • 4–8 years of relevant experience, ideally across NBFC or HFC treasury, debt capital markets, debt syndication, or an NBFC/FI coverage role at a bank.
  • Demonstrated track record of independently managing lender relationships and closing debt transactions end to end.
  • Prior exposure to gold loans or other secured retail lending is an advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling — XIRR, amortisation schedules, ALM buckets, scenario analysis. This is a core requirement, not a nice-to-have.
  • Sound working knowledge of debt instruments and structures: term loans, NCDs (listed and unlisted), commercial paper, securitisation and direct assignment, co-lending and ECB.
  • Fixed income fundamentals — yield curves, duration, credit spreads and pricing conventions — and the ability to evaluate and manage a treasury investment portfolio.
  • Familiarity with the RBI regulatory framework for NBFCs, including the Scale Based Regulation framework, and with credit rating methodologies for finance companies.
  • Ability to build clean, well-structured lender presentations and data books.

What Will Set You Apart

  • You are comfortable and credible in front of senior external stakeholders — bank relationship heads, credit committees and rating analysts — without needing the CFO in the room.
  • You are disciplined about data. Numbers you send out reconcile, and they are consistent across every document that leaves the desk.
  • You negotiate. You come to pricing conversations with evidence and a position, and you are willing to hold it.
  • You operate with high ownership in a lean team, and you close loops without being chased.
