Job Description

VACANCY FOR

ASSISTANT MANAGER – TOOLING (Rubber Molds)

Company Description:

Established in 2009, Revata Engineering is a well-recognized manufacturer and supplier of equipment for the Oil & Gas industry. The company's head office and manufacturing facility is in M. I. D. C., Bhosari, Pune.

Role Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Assistant Manager – Tooling (Rubber molds) to lead our in-house tooling function, with a strong focus on rubber mold mold development. The role involves end-to-end ownership of the tooling life cycle - from receipt of finalized part drawings and feasibility inputs to mold development, trials, production release, maintenance, and readiness for repeat batches. As a senior member of the tool room, the position combines deep hands-on rubber mold design expertise with the responsibility of leading and mentoring a small team of design engineers & maintenance technicians and owning the technical direction of the function.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead, mentor, and allocate work across a team of 2-3 tooling / design engineers, set design standards, and review their mold concepts and detailed designs to ensure quality, consistency, and on-time delivery.

· Drive mold concept and detailed design reviews with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, and quality), and sign off on tooling designs before manufacture.

· Coordinate with the engineering department to review finalized part drawings and provide tooling feasibility inputs for rubber molded components.

· Manage the complete tooling development process including mold concept review, vendor coordination, machining follow-up, finishing, assembly, and internal quality checks.

· Plan and supervise mold assembly, insert fitment, parting line control, venting, and readiness for tool trials.

· Organize and monitor initial and final mold trials in coordination with the production team.

· Ensure trials are documented thoroughly, with clear observations on dimensional results, flash control, demolding, repeatability, and modifications required, if any.

· After successful trials, hand over tools to production and support process stabilization during initial batches.

· Receive molds back post-production and ensure proper inspection, preventive maintenance, repair planning, and storage.

· Maintain tool history cards, maintenance schedules, change records, and spare part readiness for future production runs.

· Troubleshoot tool-related issues during production such as flash, sticking, mismatch, venting-related defects, wear, or fitment concerns, and drive corrective actions.

· Optimize tool design for manufacturability, durability, ease of maintenance, and cost effectiveness.

· Manage inventory of tool components, spare parts, consumables, and related vendor development activities.

· Own planning, budgeting, and execution for the tooling function.

Who Should Apply:

Experienced tooling professionals with deep, hands-on expertise in rubber mold design, development, trials, and maintenance, who are ready to lead a small design team while staying close to the technical work. Candidates should be comfortable working closely with engineering, production, and vendors in a manufacturing environment. Exposure to broader tooling environments (plastic injection, die-casting, fixtures) is welcome when backed by strong, sustained work on rubber tooling.

Qualifications:

· Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Engineering, or equivalent.

· Post Diploma in tool design & CAD/CAM from Indo-German Tool Room (IGTR) or equivalent institute

· 8-12 years of relevant experience in tooling, with substantial, hands-on exposure to rubber mold design, development, and molded component manufacturing.

· Proven experience leading or mentoring a small team of design / tooling engineers, including work allocation, design review, and capability building.

· Hands-on experience in compression, transfer, or rubber injection mold development will be preferred.

· Good understanding of mold construction, venting, shrinkage, cure-related considerations, flash management, demolding, insert loading, and tool maintenance practices for rubber components.

· Proficiency in 2 D and 3 D CAD tools for mold design and drafting (Auto CAD, Solid Works, CATIA, UG NX / Siemens NX, or equivalent).

· Solid understanding of GD& T, BOM preparation, and the in-house tool manufacturing processes used to build molds (VMC, EDM, wire-cut, surface grinding), along with fitting, assembly, and tool try-out.

· Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive approach to tooling challenges.

· Experience coordinating with production, engineering, quality, and external vendors.

· Prior experience in preventive maintenance, documentation, and tool life cycle tracking.
