Job Description

The Hotel Sales Manager is responsible for driving new revenue growth by identifying, soliciting, and securing new group and event business. This role focuses on building strong client relationships, negotiating profitable contracts, and maintaining a deep understanding of the hotel brand and revenue strategy to maximize market share.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

 

Sales & Business Development

  • Brand Strategy: Learn and leverage the hotel brand identity and revenue strategy to effectively grow market share and drive customer loyalty.
  • Lead Generation: Proactively identify and solicit new accounts through corporate appointments, telemarketing, site tours, cold calls, and prompt responses to inquiries.
  • Client Relationship Management: Establish and maintain a strong client base consisting of corporations, associations, and community organizations through dedicated direct sales efforts.
  • Site Tours & Entertainment: Conduct professional tours of the hotel and banquet facilities, entertaining qualified potential clients in compliance with company policies.

Account Management & Client Services

  • Client Consultation: Provide expert advice to clients on all aspects of hotel facilities, capacities, and services when proposing group packages and events.
  • Proposal Management: Deliver prompt, accurate, and professional responses to all client requests for proposals (RFPs) and information.
  • Service Excellence: Ensure high-quality customer experiences throughout the entire lifecycle of an account to secure repeat business.

Contract Negotiation & Financial Performance

  • Revenue Optimization: Negotiate competitive food and beverage pricing, function space rentals, guest room rates, and hotel services to meet or exceed property revenue goals.
  • Contract Management: Draft and negotiate client contracts in strict accordance with company standards and legal parameters.
  • Sales Targets: Consistently meet or exceed predetermined sales activity metrics and revenue goals.
  • Need-Time Strategy: Align sales targets with need-time strategies developed by the Revenue Management team to fill low-occupancy periods.

Operations & Administration

  • CRM Documentation: Ensure all pertinent aspects of account solicitation, closing, and customer communications are thoroughly completed and documented in the hotel's database.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor local competitors continuously and analyze their operations to identify market trends and advantages.
  • Reporting: Complete detailed daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports as directed by the General Manager and ownership.
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in the development of Quarterly and Annual Business and Marketing Plans, and assist leadership with the annual budgeting process.
  • Ad-Hoc Duties: Perform various other operational duties as assigned to meet evolving business objectives.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; post-high school education or hospitality degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a hotel service role or hospitality sales environment preferred.

  • Professionalism: Maintain a polished, professional image through appropriate dress, grooming, and demeanor at all times.
  • Communication: Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills to effectively articulate the hotel's value proposition.
  • Sales Drive: Demonstrate an assertive, proactive, and fast-paced approach to sales with a proven track record of achieving financial targets.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work seamlessly with the hotel operations and service teams to guarantee exceptional execution of booked events.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client accounts and tight deadlines simultaneously.
  • Flexibility: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on client and event needs.

Compensation and Benefits

This job description provides a general overview of the position. Paid Time Off (PTO) is available for eligible associates in accordance with company policy. Specific compensation structures, including commissions, will be discussed during the interview process.
