We are Our client is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager II – Labor & Delivery (L&D) to provide clinical and operational leadership within a high-acuity maternal-child healthcare environment. The Nurse Manager will oversee daily unit operations, nursing staff, staffing and resource allocation, quality and safety initiatives, regulatory compliance, and financial performance. This position will work closely with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, patients, families, and organizational leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and exceptional patient care. Location: Santa Clara, CA 95050 Job Type: Full-Time Compensation: $239,000 – $251,000 per year Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop nursing staff.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance management, and staff development.
- Establish a culture of accountability, teamwork, professional growth, and clinical excellence.
- Support staff engagement, retention, and professional development.
- Provide leadership to multidisciplinary teams within the L&D environment
- Oversee 24/7 Labor & Delivery unit operations.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Monitor equipment, supplies, and operational needs.
- Ensure efficient patient flow and continuity of care.
- Identify operational challenges and implement effective solutions
- Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare regulations, policies, and professional nursing standards.
- Support compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) requirements and the California Nursing Practice Act.
- Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Monitor clinical outcomes and develop action plans when improvement opportunities are identified.
- Promote evidence-based nursing practices and a culture of patient safety
- Assist with development and management of the unit budget.
- Monitor financial performance, staffing costs, and resource utilization.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Implement departmental policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Support organizational strategic initiatives and clinical goals
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Promote effective communication and coordination of patient care.
- Address patient and family concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Support continuity of care throughout the patient experience.
- Promote a patient-centered approach to Labor & Delivery services.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Minimum 5 years of patient care delivery experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in business operations, clinical healthcare, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of leadership/management experience.
- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
