Packing Supply Manager
Oversee designated business processes. Have (or develop) detailed knowledge of each business process and be able to perform most jobs in packing supply function.Be an excellent communicator (speaking and listening); proactive in discussing successes, failures, concerns and ideas with all others regardless of title.Discussing ideas and integrating different points of view in problem solving is an important part of this position.Make decisions and solve problems daily according to the needs of the business.Drive EBITDA growth in the Packaging Supply Business at Champion.Responsible for improving processes in area of responsibility. Any process changes that involve significant time, effort, investment or impact on other processes should be discussed and approved by management and others impacted by the process.Fostering excellent vendor relationships, improving product acquisition costs, inventory turns, and fill rate are among the most important issues in this area.Determining pricing and supporting the needs and demands of the sales representatives is a critical componentEnsuring proper care, housekeeping and maintenance on equipment/facilities is the responsibility of all. The standards should be consistent with requirements identified by State or Federal guidelines such as OSHA.
Hiring Range: $100,000 - $120,000 per year. A candidate’s experience and knowledge may be factored into the pay a candidate receives for this position. This posting is for an existing vacancy.
Process Responsibilities:Buying ProcessDetermine proper vendors that orders should be sourced to.Manage Inventory Levels; Responsible for what is stocked, inventory turns and identifying creative substitutions when needed.Guide the buyer/purchasing effort to buy optimally from vendors considering cost and inventory implications
Pricing/Pricing SupportResponsible for pricing all outbound packing supplies. Establish pricing for customer service repsLearn/ Remain knowledgeable about the competitive landscapeRegularly apply high degree of judgement and subjectivityIdentity deviations and capture opportunities
Vendor/Source Development ProcessWork in conjunction with sister company to establish preferred vendors to strengthen our buying power.Develop relationship with manufacturers’ sales repsLearn vendor preferences for buying strategiesLocate/secure new vendors based on customers’ needsUnderstand how customers are evaluating our performance and the influence they have on year-end rebates
Technical Support ProcessBecome a “go-to” resource for packing/supplies issues when they ariseProvide additional sales support for sales reps and additional technical support for customer service reps. xzbcwsv Arrange for appropriate training needed for relevant staff.Determine scope and respond to urgent shipment needs responsiblyMake sound recommendations for substitutions if out-of-stock items are needed
Product Line Management ProcessWork collaboratively with VP on decisions to do/ not do new businessRoutinely evaluate activity, sales, and profitability of existing product offeringsMaintain awareness of customer needs and interests
Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent job experience3+ years’ experience in similar roleExcellent skills with Office ProgramsAbility and willingness to travel occasionally in the US and Canada
