Financial Controller
Green Aero Propulsion · Bangalore, India
Job Description
Financial Controller
Location: Bangalore, India (On-site)
Experience: 3–6 years
Reports to: Lead of Finance
Industry: Manufacturing (Aerospace & Defence)
About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Financial Controller to own the day-to-day finance function at a Bangalore-based aerospace startup. This is an individual-contributor, execution-focused role not a CFO or Head of Finance position. You'll be the first dedicated finance hire, responsible for setting up the company's books from scratch and keeping them audit-ready as we scale.
If you're an early-career finance professional who wants to build strong financial systems hands-on in a regulated, high-precision manufacturing environment, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Architecture: Build and maintain the company's books of accounts to be audit-ready at all times. Set up internal controls and financial processes from the ground up.
- Cash Flow Management: Maintain real-time visibility on liquidity. Track burn rate, manage working capital, and prepare cash flow forecasts, budgets, and variance reports to support long-cycle manufacturing operations.
- Manufacturing & Costing: Implement project-based costing for aerospace components. Manage WIP (Work-in-Progress) valuation and inventory controls relevant to defence and aerospace manufacturing.
- Compliance: Manage GST (including refunds for inverted duty structures), TDS, and annual statutory audits and filings end-to-end.
- Grants & Incentives: Handle compliance for iDEX grants, Startup India benefits, and export/import documentation, with attention to international trade compliance.
- Fundraising Support: Prepare and organize financial documentation to support the Lead of Finance during due diligence for funding rounds, grant disbursements, and partnership discussions.
- Cross-functional Support: Provide financial data and analysis to the Lead of Finance and founding team to support business decisions.
- Process Improvement: Set up best-practice finance processes to improve turnaround times across departments.
Requirements
- Qualified CFA / Chartered Accountant (ICAI) / MBA in Finance
- 3–6 years of finance experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment
- 1+ years of experience in Compilation of Financial Statements
- Hands-on experience building or strengthening financial systems and processes
- Comfortable managing complex cash flows and fund flows independently
Preferred
- Experience in a startup or an organization with global operations
- Exposure to project-based costing, WIP valuation, and inventory control in manufacturing or aerospace/defence
- Experience managing GST, TDS, statutory audits, and related compliance
- Experience supporting fundraising or financial due diligence for equity or grant funding
Note on seniority: This role is scoped for early-to-mid career finance professionals (3–6 years) who want to build hands-on ownership of a finance function.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary aligned with Bangalore's top-tier startup standards
- ESOP grants in a growth-oriented company
- The opportunity to build the financial foundation of a company contributing to the global aerospace supply chain
