The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth is looking for an experienced General Maintenance Technician with a specialty in aquatics and pool maintenance to join our team and support the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for the general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of YMCA facilities while serving as a key resource for the Association's swimming pools and aquatic systems. This position will perform a variety of general facility maintenance duties, including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, and preventative maintenance, with an increased focus on the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of aquatic equipment and systems.
This individual will work closely with YMCA branch leadership and our Facilities team, as well as outside aquatic vendors including PoolSure, Sunbelt Pools, and other pool contractors, service providers, and suppliers , to ensure our pools and aquatic facilities remain safe, operational, and well maintained.

QualificationsEducation & Certifications : This position requires graduation from an accredited trade school in a related field, and/or 5 years' experience along with demonstrated knowledge in plumbing, electric, carpentry and painting and drywall repair. Must be 18 years old or older. Must be able to lift 75lbs and must have a valid Texas Driver's License.
Experience & Background : High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail and high degree of initiative will help this candidate be successful. The ability to direct programs through leading both staff and volunteers, developing and monitoring budgets, developing and marketing programs and bringing enthusiasm and a passion for fundraising. A proven track record in building authentic relationships with others and the ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations. This leader will need the ability to connect and relate with diverse groups of people at all levels of the organization. Bilingual English/Spanish would be a plus.
Key Focus Areas- Responds to, prioritizes, and completes facility maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner, ensuring YMCA facilities remain safe, clean, functional, and welcoming for members, staff, and guests.
- Performs routine and preventative maintenance throughout YMCA facilities, including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, doors, windows, fixtures, hardware, and other general building repairs.
- Conducts routine facility inspections, identifies potential safety concerns and preventative maintenance needs, and addresses issues before they result in equipment failure, facility disruption, or unnecessary expense.
- Serves as a primary maintenance resource for YMCA aquatic facilities, performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance of swimming pools, pool equipment, and aquatic mechanical systems.
- Monitors and troubleshoots pool pumps, motors, filtration systems, chemical systems, heaters, boilers, circulation systems, valves, controllers, and other related aquatic equipment to support safe and reliable pool operations.
- Works collaboratively with Aquatics and branch leadership to identify and address equipment or mechanical concerns that may impact water quality, temperature, circulation, programming, member usage, or overall pool operations.
- Coordinates timely repairs of pool and facility equipment to minimize closures and interruptions to YMCA programs and services.
- Serves as a primary maintenance contact for PoolSure, Sunbelt Pools, and other pool and facility vendors, contractors, and service providers , coordinating service calls, preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, equipment installations, and other facility needs.
- Works directly with vendors and contractors to troubleshoot issues, obtain quotes, evaluate repair or replacement options, coordinate onsite work, and ensure identified maintenance needs are appropriately addressed.
- Maintains preventative maintenance schedules for facility and aquatic equipment and assists leadership in identifying equipment approaching the end of its useful life and planning for major repairs, replacement, and future capital needs.
- Maintains accurate documentation of work orders, preventative maintenance, vendor services, equipment repairs, warranties, inspections, and other facility maintenance activities.
- Communicates regularly with YMCA leadership regarding significant maintenance concerns, equipment failures, repair status, anticipated costs, vendor recommendations, and project timelines.
- Ensures maintenance activities support applicable YMCA standards and local, state, and federal safety requirements and follows appropriate procedures when working with pool chemicals, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, and other potentially hazardous materials or equipment.
- Maintains mechanical rooms, pool equipment areas, chemical storage areas, maintenance spaces, tools, and equipment in a safe, clean, and organized condition.
- Immediately communicates conditions that could impact member or staff safety and partners with Aquatics and branch leadership when a maintenance issue may require modification or temporary suspension of pool operations.
- Assists with emergency maintenance situations and other facility needs as required while demonstrating flexibility, teamwork, sound judgment, and a commitment to protecting YMCA facilities and resources.
