Position SummaryThe club is seeking a part-time, contract Chief Financial Officer with deep capital projects experience. This leader will own the financial side of the club's capital program — from long-range capital planning and funding strategy through budget control, contractor payments and project close-out.
The CFO will also provide senior oversight of the club's overall finances, working closely with the General Manager, the Treasurer and the Finance Committee. This is a hands-on advisory role for someone who has steered major construction and renovation projects in a private club, hospitality or real estate setting.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial LeadershipOversee the annual operating and capital budgets with the General Manager and ControllerReview monthly financial statements, cash position and departmental performanceStrengthen internal controls, purchasing and approval policiesCoordinate the annual audit and tax filings with outside CPAsAdvise on dues structure, initiation fees and long-range financial sustainabilityBoard and Committee SupportServe as the primary financial advisor to the Treasurer, Finance Committee and Board of GovernorsPrepare clear, member-ready financial presentations for capital decisions and annual meetingsAttend Board, Finance and House or Building Committee meetings as neededCapital ProjectsBuild and maintain a multi-year capital plan covering the clubhouse, golf course, grounds and member amenitiesDevelop project budgets, cash-flow forecasts and funding strategies, including capital reserves, member assessments, capital dues and debt financingModel the financial impact of major projects on dues, operating budgets and reserves, and present scenarios to the BoardPartner with the owner's representative, architects and general contractors on cost estimates, bids, contracts and change orders

QualificationsRequired10+ years of progressive finance leadership, including CFO, VP Finance or Controller rolesDirect financial ownership of at least one major capital project (new construction, renovation or xzbcwsv expansion) from planning through close-outExperience with construction accounting: AIA pay applications, retainage, change orders, lien waivers and cost-to-complete reportingTrack record structuring project funding through reserves, assessments or debtStrong board-facing communication and the ability to explain complex financials to non-financial membersCPA or equivalent professional credential
PreferredExperience with private, member-owned clubs (golf, country, yacht or city clubs)Background in hospitality, resort or real estate development financeFamiliarity with coastal or historic-property construction, permitting and insurance considerationsWorking knowledge of club accounting systems (e.g., Jonas, Northstar, Clubessential) and HFTP/USFRC reporting standardsExperience with not-for-profit or tax-exempt club structures
