Assistant Financial Controller/Financial Controller

Jacobs Levy Equity Management, an institutional asset management firm located in Florham Park, NJ, is seeking an Assistant Financial Controller/ Financial Controller, who will work alongside the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to manage and enhance the firm’s financial operations, reporting, and strategy. The role blends day-to-day management of the financial operations and strategic projects, with a focus on the specific nuances of managing institutional accounts and public equity investment strategies. Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the CFO in managing financial aspects of the firm, including forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysisAssist in daily operational tasks and preparing client deliverables as well as developing transition plans for and onboarding of new client mandatesAssist in managing accounting functions, including bookkeeping and oversight of accounting software systems and tools, and vendor relationshipsAssist in the preparation of tax returns and internal and external financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirementsMaintain accurate and timely reporting of firm performance, including AUM tracking, management fee and incentive fee calculationsCollaborate with operations, compliance, and portfolio management teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting for investment mandatesOversee vendor relationships related to financial services, fund administration, audit, and taxAssist with client and regulatory reporting (e.g., ADV, Form PF, GIPS compliance)Support business development efforts with financial analysesContribute to risk management, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives for the finance function and the firm
QualificationsMaster’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred and CIPM and/or CFA designation is a plus5–10 years of relevant experience in asset management, investment management, or financial servicesUnderstanding of institutional investing and separately managed accounts and commingled funds, especially U.S. and global equity strategiesStrong understanding of financial principles and accountingFamiliarity with investment performance metrics, fee structures, and reporting standardsExcellent analytical, modeling, and problem-solving skillsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Advent, or similar platforms)Detail-oriented with a high level of integrity and confidentialityStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally
When determining the actual base salary offered to successful candidates, various factors will be considered, including but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and qualifications for the role, as well as level of education attained, certifications, and other professional licenses held. The expected base salary for this position is $150,000-$200,000. In addition to base salary, benefits include discretionary bonus plans, health, dental and other wellness plans, contributions to profit-sharing and 401(k) plan, paid time off, and more.
