Freelance Handbags & Lifestyle Accessories Designer for MAYU:

Project Duration: July–September 2026 (Freelance / Contract)

MAYU is looking for a talented freelance Handbags & Lifestyle Accessories Designer to collaborate on the design and development of our upcoming collection, launching in early September .

Our new collection will explore the intersection of luxury craftsmanship and material innovation, featuring fish leather alongside other next-generation sustainable leather alternatives. We are looking for a designer who can create timeless, commercially viable products while embracing the unique characteristics of innovative materials.

What you will do:

• Design a capsule collection of handbags and lifestyle accessories
• Develop mood boards, concept directions, colour palettes, and material combinations
• Create detailed design sketches and technical drawings
• Prepare tech packs with construction details, dimensions, hardware specifications, and finishing notes
• Collaborate closely with our founder and manufacturing partners during product development
• Refine designs based on prototyping and material constraints
• Help build a cohesive collection aligned with MAYU's premium brand vision

We are looking for someone who has:

• Experience designing handbags, leather goods, or lifestyle accessories
• A strong portfolio demonstrating contemporary, premium product design
• Knowledge of bag construction, materials, hardware, and manufacturing processes
• Experience preparing production-ready tech packs
• Strong understanding of luxury aesthetics, functionality, and user experience
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently within tight timelines

Bonus if you have experience with:

• Fish leather, bio-based materials, vegan leather, or other sustainable materials
• Luxury fashion or accessories brands
• Working directly with artisans or manufacturers
• Product development from concept to production

Deliverables:

• Collection concepts and mood boards
• Design sketches and renderings
• Production-ready tech packs
• Material and hardware recommendations
• Support through sampling and design refinements
