Our client is a family-owned real estate company based in Omaha, NE that invests in, develops, and manages apartment and build-to-rent communities across the U.S. The Controller will work directly with the firm’s principals to lead the accounting function and support the company’s continued growth. Responsibilities Lead month-end close for self-managed properties and corporate entities in Yardi, including journal entries, accruals, intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and monthly financial reporting. Review accounting team work, including bank reconciliations, AP, cash activity, and supporting documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Review financials from third-party property managers and prepare construction draw packages for development projects. Prepare lender reporting, support investor distributions and cash management, and coordinate year-end tax work with the outside CPA firm. Oversee the accounting team and establish/maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Qualifications 4+ years of property accounting experience or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to work independently within established processes. Strong Microsoft Office/Excel skills.
