About the Role

Chandigarh University invites applications from passionate academicians, designers, and creative professionals for the position of Assistant Professor in Fashion Design. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to teaching, curriculum development, student mentoring, research, and industry engagement while nurturing the next generation of fashion professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Fashion Design and related disciplines.
• Develop course plans, studio assignments, design projects, assessments, and learning resources.
• Teach subjects related to fashion design, garment construction, textile studies, fashion illustration, design thinking, fashion communication, merchandising, and fashion technology.
• Mentor students in portfolio development, design projects, internships, competitions, and career planning.
• Guide student participation in fashion shows, exhibitions, design competitions, and industry events.
• Contribute to curriculum development and continuous enhancement of academic programs.
• Engage in research, publications, creative practice, design innovation, and consultancy projects.
• Build collaborations with designers, fashion houses, retail organizations, and industry partners.
• Support accreditation, quality assurance, admissions, and institutional development initiatives.
• Participate in departmental, School, and University-level academic and administrative activities.

Eligibility Criteria

• Master's Degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Textile Design, Fashion Technology, Design, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
• Ph.D. in the relevant discipline from a recognized University (Mandatory).
• Strong academic and creative portfolio demonstrating expertise in fashion and design education.
• Evidence of research, publications, design projects, exhibitions, industry engagement, or creative contributions will be preferred.

Preferred Profile

• Graduates from premier institutions such as NIFT, NID, IITs (Design), CEPT, Pearl Academy, or other nationally/internationally reputed design institutions will be preferred.
• Experience in studio-based teaching, portfolio mentoring, and industry collaboration.
• Exposure to design software, digital fashion tools, and emerging technologies in fashion will be an advantage.
• Strong industry network and professional engagement preferred.
