Job Description

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Design Coordinator with 5–7 years of relevant experience in corporate and commercial workplace interiors.

The role will be responsible for coordinating the end-to-end workplace interior Design & Build process , from design development and documentation through site execution, snag closure, and final project handover.

The candidate will work closely with clients, designers, architects, MEP consultants, contractors, vendors, and project teams to ensure that design intent is effectively translated into a functional, high-quality, and well-executed workplace environment.

Key Responsibilities

Workplace Interior Design

  • Coordinate workplace interior design projects from design development through project completion.
  • Review and coordinate space planning, furniture layouts, partitions, ceilings, flooring, finishes, lighting, joinery, signage, and other interior elements .
  • Ensure design solutions meet client requirements, workplace standards, brand guidelines, functionality, aesthetics, and project objectives.
  • Coordinate interior design with architectural, MEP, electrical, HVAC, fire, IT, AV, and other specialist requirements.
  • Review design drawings, specifications, material schedules, and details for accuracy, completeness, and constructability.
  • Identify design conflicts and coordinate timely resolution with relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate design changes and ensure approved revisions are communicated to the project team.

Design Documentation & Coordination

  • Prepare, review, and coordinate drawings, detailed drawings, RCPs, furniture layouts, joinery details, finish schedules, and other design documentation .
  • Review contractor and vendor shop drawings and technical submissions against approved design.
  • Coordinate RFIs, technical queries, design clarifications, and site-related design issues.
  • Maintain drawing registers, revision records, design trackers, and material schedules.
  • Participate in design coordination meetings and ensure timely closure of action items.
  • Monitor design deliverables against project schedules and proactively highlight risks or delays.

Site & Project Execution

  • Work closely with Project Managers and site teams to ensure the design intent is maintained during execution.
  • Conduct regular site visits and resolve design and detailing issues arising during construction.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, consultants, and suppliers on technical and design requirements.
  • Support material approvals, mock-ups, sample reviews, and design sign-offs.
  • Review site conditions and provide practical, buildable design solutions.
  • Support management of design changes and variations during project execution.

Project Handover

  • Own and coordinate the design-related project handover process .
  • Coordinate final inspections, snag identification, and closure of design-related defects.
  • Ensure all design and finishing elements are completed in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate preparation and collection of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, warranties, product data sheets, finish schedules, and other handover documents .
  • Ensure final drawings and documentation accurately reflect the completed workplace.
  • Support client walkthroughs, final inspections, and handover activities.
  • Ensure all outstanding design and documentation requirements are closed before project completion.

Software Skills

The candidate must have strong working knowledge of the following software:

  • AutoCAD – Advanced working knowledge; ability to independently prepare and modify detailed interior drawings and layouts.
  • SketchUp – Good working knowledge for developing 3D models, spatial studies, and design presentations.
  • Adobe Photoshop – Good working knowledge for preparing design presentations, mood boards, material boards, and visual enhancements.
  • MS Office – Good working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for project coordination and documentation.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related discipline .
  • 5–7 years of hands-on experience specifically in workplace interiors / commercial interiors .
  • Strong experience in corporate office and workplace fit-out projects .
  • Strong understanding of interior construction, materials, detailing, and coordination.
  • Ability to independently read, prepare, and review architectural, interior, MEP, electrical, and technical drawings.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Photoshop .
  • Experience working with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and site teams.
  • Strong project coordination, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail with a good understanding of design aesthetics and technical execution.

Role Outcome

The Design Coordinator will ensure the seamless delivery of workplace interior projects from design through execution and final handover , maintaining design quality, technical accuracy, coordination, and client expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
