Principal Architect – Hardware

The Principal Architect – Hardware is responsible for the design and development of service platforms and products that enable effective troubleshooting, maintenance, and diagnostics of advanced industrial products.

This is a contractor position , part of the Digital Technology & Service Innovation team , located on-site in Bangalore, India , with an immediate join date .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead hardware architecture activities for bioprocessing upstream and downstream system projects, defining system architectures, guiding design reviews, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical leadership while collaborating with global, cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, embedded, and systems engineering, to drive successful product development, launch, and long-term sustainment.
• Lead and facilitate Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) activities, identifying technical risks and driving robust mitigation plans at the system and component levels.
• Define system-level hardware architecture, including electronics, sensors, controls, power distribution, communication interfaces, and subsystem integration.
• Develop hardware project roadmaps aligned with business and product objectives.
• Mentor engineering teams and establish hardware design best practices, standards, and architectural governance.

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field .
• 15+ years of experience in hardware development, systems engineering, and product development.
• Demonstrated experience as a Principal Architect, Hardware Architect, Technical Lead , or equivalent senior engineering leadership role.
• Experience with hardware integration across mechanical, electrical, embedded, and software subsystems .
• Strong understanding of product development processes, including requirements development, design reviews, verification, validation, and change control activities .

Good to Have

• Advanced degree ( M.S. or Ph.D. ) in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with bioprocessing, life sciences instrumentation, medical devices, laboratory, or industrial equipment .
• Familiarity with cybersecurity protocols .
