US East Coast ( Hybrid) | [Full-time Contract] Salary: $75 – $100 per hour
About the role Our client is a leading professional services organization headquartered in New York City. They’re looking for a Senior Snowflake Developer / Architect to lead the design and delivery of their enterprise data platform. You can be based anywhere on the US East Coast, working Eastern Time hours, with occasional travel to the New York office and Tampa Florida
You’ll own Snowflake solutions from architecture through to production. You’ll work with Finance, Operations and business leaders to turn data from across the firm into trusted, well-governed insight on client engagements, utilization, billing and firm performance.
This is a hands-on senior role. You’ll set technical direction while staying close enough to the build to make sure it’s done right.
What you’ll doLead the architecture of the Snowflake platform, covering account and environment design, warehouses, databases and layered data models (raw, staging, curated, presentation)Build and maintain transformation pipelines in dbt, including models, tests, snapshots, macros and incremental strategiesDesign, schedule and monitor data workflows in Apache Airflow (or Astronomer / MWAA), including DAG design, dependency management, alerting and recoveryIntegrate data from core business systems such as ERP, time and billing, CRM, HR and finance platforms into Snowflake using Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks and ingestion toolsImplement security and governance: RBAC, masking and row access policies, data classification and secure data sharing for sensitive client and employee dataOptimize performance and cost through warehouse sizing, clustering, query tuning and resource monitorsSet engineering standards for Git-based version control, CI/CD, automated testing and environment promotionAct as the technical lead with stakeholders, translating business requirements into scalable data solutionsMentor engineers and review code and designs across a distributed team
What you’ll bringAt least 2 full end-to-end Snowflake implementations, from design through to production go-live, where you held a lead technical or architecture role6+ years in data engineering or data warehousing, with 3+ years hands-on in SnowflakeStrong production experience with dbt, including project structure, testing, documentation and deploymentStrong production experience with Apache Airflow, including authoring and maintaining DAGs and orchestrating dbt and Snowflake workloadsExpert SQL and strong PythonDeep knowledge of Snowflake features: Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks, Dynamic Tables, Time Travel, zero-copy cloning and semi-structured dataExperience on at least one major cloud platform xzbcwsv (AWS, Azure or GCP)Solid data modeling skills (dimensional, Data Vault or similar)A proven ability to work effectively in a remote or distributed teamExcellent communication skills with both technical and business audiencesBased on the US East Coast and authorized to work in the US [without sponsorship]
