Research Economics Intern | AI Governance
Omysha Foundation | Research & Analysis Bureau (RAB)
Remote | 6 Months | 30 Hours/Week
Work on the questions shaping the AI economy.Artificial Intelligence is changing how we work, how businesses operate, how economies grow, and how governments think about regulation.
At Omysha Foundation , we are building research around these questions through our Research & Analysis Bureau (RAB) .
We are looking for a Research Economics Intern who wants to go beyond academic research and explore how AI is actually reshaping economies, labour markets, industries, policy, and society.
This is an opportunity to work on real research problems in AI Governance , contribute to research outputs, and learn how evidence can influence policy, strategy, and decision-making.
What You Will Work OnYour research may explore questions such as:
- How will AI change jobs, skills, and labour markets?
- Which industries are most likely to be transformed by AI?
- Will AI increase productivity or economic inequality?
- How should governments regulate increasingly powerful AI systems?
- What does responsible AI governance look like in different countries?
- How should India approach AI regulation and economic transformation?
- What happens when technological progress moves faster than policy?
You will be encouraged to question assumptions, explore different perspectives, and develop evidence-backed insights.
Your RoleResearch & Economic Analysis
- Conduct research using academic papers, policy documents, government publications, industry reports, and credible datasets.
- Study the economic impact of AI across industries and labour markets.
- Research automation, economic displacement, productivity, inequality, and the future of work.
- Analyse emerging trends in AI and the global economy.
AI Governance & Policy
- Research AI regulations and governance frameworks in India and globally.
- Compare different approaches to AI governance.
- Track important developments in AI policy and regulation.
- Identify emerging governance challenges, policy gaps, and economic implications.
Research & Insight Development
- Convert complex research into clear research briefs and concept notes.
- Develop evidence-backed insights for internal and external use.
- Support research frameworks, indicators, and analytical models.
- Contribute to reports, publications, presentations, events, and thought leadership.
Strategy & Program Support
- Support A4G initiatives focused on AI, governance, economics, and societal impact.
- Provide research inputs for strategy and program development.
- Work with senior team members on open-ended research questions.
- Contribute to research outputs, including opportunities for co-authorship.

- Is comfortable forming an argument and backing it with evidence.
- Has an interest in research, economics, policy, or technology.
- Has basic familiarity with research methods and analytical thinking.
Prior professional research experience is not mandatory. Curiosity, ownership, and the ability to think deeply matter more.

Duration & CommitmentDuration: 6 Months
Commitment: Minimum 30 hours/week
Working Days: Monday to Saturday
Mode: Fully Remote
StipendMonths 1 to 2: ₹5,000/month
Months 3 to 4: ₹7,500/month
Subject to performance rating of 4/5 or above
Months 5 to 6: ₹10,000/month
Subject to performance rating of 4/5 or above
