The University of Arizona, Campus Health Service (CHS) seeks a qualified candidate for the position of part-time Nurse Practitioner. The Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner position is responsible for working with Campus Health Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to provide primary care to eligible University of Arizona students and staff. This position is focused on medical care in Campus Health Services' (CHS) Urgent Care area.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide directpatient care including examinations, perform essential office procedures, orderand interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe and administer medications, and makereferrals for ambulatory care patients.
  • Respond tomedical emergencies in the facility.
  • Complete timelyand appropriate documentation for medical care and services.
  • Provide technical directions and consultationfor CHS nurses, medical assistants and other staff.
  • Provideteaching/precepting opportunities for health care trainees if desired.
  • Involvement incommittees and teams as appropriate.
  • Possibility ofon-call duties with additional compensation.
  • Additionalduties as assigned.

Knowledge,Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Good oral andwritten communication skills, including with all levels of the institution.
  • Progressiveleadership skills: ability to develop, guide, motivate, and coach others.
  • Advancedknowledge of skills in health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention,physical and psychosocial assessment and management of health and illnessapplicable to the care of college students.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Masters degreefrom an approved school of nursing and completion of an approved adult orfamily practice Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Minimum of 5years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education andwork experience.
  • Licensed topractice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Arizona or will be by date ofhire.
  • Boardeligibility or certification in practice specialty.
  • Must havecurrent DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certification.
  • Arizonaprescriptive privileges required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in urgent/emergency care setting.
  • Experience with electronic medical records.
