<p> Job Description </p> <p> Mental Health Counselor / Student Wellness Counselor </p> <p> Sanjivani Group of Institutes &amp; Sanjivani University </p> <p> Location: Kopargaon, Maharashtra </p> <p> Reports To: HAG &amp; CHRO </p> <p> Position Summary </p> <p> Sanjivani Group of Institutes invites applications for the position of Mental Health Counselor to promote the psychological well-being of students and employees across its diverse educational ecosystem, including Engineering, Polytechnic, Pharmacy, Management, Commerce, Computer Applications, Postgraduate, and Doctoral programmes. </p> <p> The Counselor will provide confidential psychological counseling, crisis intervention, preventive mental health programmes, and emotional wellness initiatives while fostering a healthy, inclusive, and supportive campus environment. The role also extends to promoting employee mental well-being through awareness programmes, counseling support, and stress management initiatives. </p> <p> Key Responsibilities </p> <p>1. Student Counseling Services </p> Provide confidential individual counseling to students experiencing: Academic stress Anxiety and depression Relationship concerns Family issues Emotional distress Self-esteem concerns Examination stress Adjustment to campus life Career uncertainty Homesickness Substance misuse concerns Conduct intake assessments and maintain confidential counseling records. Develop individualized support and intervention plans. Monitor student progress through scheduled follow-up sessions. <p>2. Crisis Intervention &amp; Risk Management </p> Provide immediate psychological support during crises. Assess and manage students at risk of self-harm or suicide. Coordinate with parents, medical professionals, and institutional authorities during emergencies. Maintain crisis response protocols in collaboration with the Medical Officer, Hostel Wardens, and Security Department. Refer cases requiring psychiatric intervention to qualified mental health specialists. <p>3. Preventive Mental Health Programmes </p> <p> Design and conduct regular awareness programmes on: </p> Stress Management Emotional Intelligence Time Management Examination Anxiety Building Resilience Positive Psychology Healthy Relationships Digital Well-being Social Media Addiction Substance Abuse Prevention Anger Management Mindfulness and Meditation Sleep Hygiene Life Skills Development <p>4. Employee Mental Well-being </p> <p> Provide wellness support for teaching and non-teaching staff through: </p> Individual counseling (where appropriate) Stress and burnout management Work-life balance workshops Emotional resilience programmes Faculty well-being initiatives Psychological first aid after critical incidents Awareness on workplace mental health <p>5. Student Outreach &amp; Engagement </p> Conduct orientation sessions for newly admitted students. Promote awareness regarding available counseling services. Organize Mental Health Week, Wellness Month, and awareness campaigns. Encourage help-seeking behaviour and reduce stigma associated with mental health. Develop self-help resources and wellness materials. <p>6. Collaboration with Academic Departments </p> <p> Work closely with: </p> Principals Deans Heads of Departments Faculty Mentors Class Teachers Hostel Wardens NSS/NCC Coordinators Anti-Ragging Committee Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) Student Development Cell Placement Cell <p> to identify students requiring timely psychological support. </p> <p>7. Parent Engagement </p> Conduct counseling sessions involving parents whenever appropriate. Guide parents in supporting students facing emotional or behavioural challenges. Maintain professional communication while respecting confidentiality and ethical standards. <p>8. Training &amp; Capacity Building </p> <p> Develop and deliver training programmes for faculty, mentors, wardens, and student leaders on: </p> Early identification of mental health concerns Psychological first aid Active listening Student mentoring Suicide prevention Referral mechanisms Creating psychologically safe classrooms <p>9. Documentation &amp; Reporting </p> Maintain confidential counseling records. Prepare monthly reports on: Number of counseling sessions Wellness programmes conducted Student participation Emerging mental health trends Ensure compliance with ethical and legal standards regarding confidentiality and record management. <p>10. Campus Mental Health Initiatives </p> <p> Lead initiatives such as: </p> Peer Support Programme Student Wellness Clubs Happiness &amp; Gratitude Campaigns Mental Health Screening Drives Exam-Time Wellness Support Anti-Stress Activities Mindfulness and Yoga Sessions (with Physical Education Department) Digital Detox Campaigns
