Registered Veterinary Technician (Adoptions) Full Time, (Various days and hours, weekends/holidays as needed) $34 an hour, CA RVT License Required Amazing human wanted to save lives and make a global impact! Helen Woodward Animal Center is a globally recognized animal welfare organization, and our team of superstars is seeking an experienced, inspired, and positive Registered Veterinary Technician to make a world of difference in the lives of shelter pets through dedication, care, and compassion. Responsibilities Possess the knowledge required of a registered veterinary technician with regards to radiography, surgery, anesthesia, dentistry, pharmacology, laboratory, and medicine as it pertains to the field of small animal medicine Assist veterinarian in surgery, including anesthesia induction, intubation, prepping of animals, assisting during surgery, extubation, and monitoring recovery Perform dental cleanings and extractions as directed by the veterinarian Assist veterinarian in examining animals and participate during intakes Must be able to go offsite and perform offsite duties, including overnight offsite trips, primarily routine medical procedures and examinations related to offsite animal intakes Perform routine medical procedures such as vaccines, fecal exams, medication administration, catheter placement, etc Provide all medical hold animals with exercise, attention, love, feeding, hygiene, and grooming requirements, monitor sick/injured animals Radiograph animals as directed by the veterinarian and ensure that the radiographs are of diagnostic quality Prepare surgical packs and ensure that all areas of the medical department are properly cleaned, maintained, and stocked Perform weekly inventory of supplies and medication and prepare and submit purchase orders in time to ensure that supplies are well stocked Requirements Current CA RVT License Must have at least 6 months hands on experience in a veterinary environment other than schooling and/or training experience Possess knowledge of anesthesia and be able to operate an anesthesia machine Able to properly operate an x-ray machine and determine that the radiographs are of a diagnostic quality Must be able to follow written and oral veterinarian orders without direct supervision Able to safely lift objects weighing up to 55 lbs without assistance and up to 100 lbs. with assistance Must possess a valid Driver's License with a good driving record as may require driving duties Generous Benefits include: Employer sponsored Medical, Dental and Group Vision, Paid Holidays, Sick & Vacation Time, 403b Retirement Plan with Employer Match, Employee Discounts.
