ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Backend Technical Lead with deep expertise in Java-based enterprise application development and microservices architecture. This strategic leadership position requires designing and building scalable, resilient, and secure backend systems that power enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will drive cloud modernization, establish backend engineering excellence, lead high-performing teams, and own technical decisions around system architecture, data management, and operational excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and architect scalable, resilient, and secure backend systems using Java and Spring ecosystem
• Lead development and optimization of enterprise-grade microservices and distributed systems
• Define backend engineering standards, architectural patterns, and best practices across teams
• Mentor and coach backend engineers through technical reviews, design discussions, and skill development
• Ensure high availability, observability, and performance optimization of backend services
• Collaborate with product, architecture, DevOps, and frontend teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Lead cloud modernization initiatives and migrate legacy systems to cloud-native architectures
• Drive API strategy and governance (REST, GraphQL, async APIs)
• Implement observability, monitoring, and alerting strategies across backend services
• Conduct architecture reviews, technology evaluations, and proof-of-concept implementations
• Establish data management strategies including database design, caching, and optimization
• Lead security initiatives including secure coding, dependency scanning, and vulnerability management
• Participate in hiring, conducting technical interviews, and building high-performing teams
• Monitor system health, performance metrics, and implement SLA/SLO monitoring

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Required Experience:

• 8+ years of professional backend development experience
• 3+ years in technical leadership or team lead roles
• 5+ years of Java development in enterprise environments
• Proven experience designing and building distributed systems
• Experience leading and mentoring development teams of 5+
• Demonstrated expertise with microservices architecture

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)

Relevant certifications a plus (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, etc.)
