Job Summary Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in the delivery of patient care, utilizing the nursing process. Provides professional nursing care to patients, including conducting nursing assessments, assisting with exams and treatment, patient education, and maintenance of medical records. MHHS hires RNs based on years of experience groupings. (i.e. newly licensed RN [working under the supervision of RN clinical preceptor], less than 1 year, 1-3 years, 3 to 10 and 10+). Job Description Summary Registered Nurse - Specialty Surgery Unit Schedule: Full-time | 312-hour, Night shift (7:00 PM-7:00 PAM) | Rotating weekends Patient Ratio: 1:5 About the Role Our Specialty Surgery Unit is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This role includes caring for both pre-operative and post-operative patients, supporting smooth transitions through admission, recovery, and discharge. Key Responsibilities Receive and provide thorough patient handoff reports Deliver high-quality care to pre-op and post-op surgical patients Perform patient admissions and discharges efficiently Collaborate closely with the care team to promote excellent patient outcomes Maintain accuracy in charting, assessments, and medication administration Adapt quickly within a busy, fast-paced unit Minimum Qualifications Active RN license BSN preferred Experience in pre- and/or post-surgery nursing At least 2 years of RN experience preferred (outpatient surgical experience accepted) Job Description Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing; Bachelor of Nursing preferred Licenses/Certifications: Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing Certified in Basic Life Support Additional certifications may be required based on discipline and/or nursing unit requirements Experience / Knowledge / Skills: RN I
