Support Worker - Weekends

MacIntyre · Church End, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom

FULL TIME

Job Description

Weekend Support Worker | 15 hours a week | Buckinghamshire Make every weekend count.

The information below covers the role requirements, expected candidate experience, and accompanying qualifications.
At MacIntyre, we support people in ways that make sense to them, helping them live as independently, confidently and joyfully as possible.
No care experience? No problem. If you're compassionate, a great communicator and genuinely want to make a difference, we'll give you full training and ongoing support to help you thrive.
About the role
You'll be supporting three brilliant young men who have lived together since 2014 and know exactly how to make the most of a weekend. Think cycling, swimming, bowling, cinema trips, holidays, or simply getting out and about. No two weekends look the same, so if you love staying active and being part of the community, you'll feel right at home.
The people you'll support are non-verbal, so part of your role is learning their world. You'll communicate through visual tools and verbal prompts, and get to know each person's own way of expressing themselves. A smile, relaxed body language or an excited reaction can tell you everything you need to know. Those small moments are often the best part of the job.
What you'll help with
Going to the bathroom and getting ready
Medication administration
Managing finances
Keeping up relationships with family and friends
Getting out and about for hobbies and activities
Building independence and life skills
Above all, you'll become someone they trust: a companion, an encourager and an advocate.
