Coalesce Management Consulting is seeking an experienced Protection & Control Engineer with a strong background in protective relay programming, substation automation, SCADA integration, and industrial communications.
About the Role
This role requires someone who understands the complete digital substation architecture — from protective relays and IEDs through RTUs/data concentrators and communications networks to SCADA/HMI systems.
Responsibilities
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram, configure, test, and troubleshoot protective relays and IEDsConfigure relay settings, logic, controls, I/O, and communicationsIntegrate relays/IEDs with RTUs, RTACs, gateways, and data concentratorsConfigure and troubleshoot DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus, TCP/IP, and serial communicationsSupport SCADA and HMI integrationConfigure and troubleshoot industrial networking and Ethernet switchesSupport testing, commissioning, validation, and troubleshooting of P&C and substation automation systemsWork across the complete communication path from field devices to the SCADA/master system
Qualifications
Ideal Background8+ years of experience in Protection & Control, Substation Automation, SCADA, or Substation ControlsStrong hands-on experience programming/configuring protective relaysExperience integrating relays → RTU/data concentrator → SCADAStrong understanding of utility communication protocols and industrial networkingUtility, transmission, distribution, or substation experience strongly preferred
Required Skills
Strong background in protective relay programming, substation automation, SCADA integration, and industrial communicationsStrong hands-on experience programming/configuring protective relaysStrong understanding of utility communication protocols and industrial networking

Pay range and compensation package
Work Arrangement: Hybrid — onsite Tuesday through Thursday; remote Monday and Friday. Relocation to the New York City area is required.
