Dell Medical School is seeking a Healthcare Contract Specialist.
PurposeSupports Dell Medical School stakeholders in the preparation, routing, negotiation, and administration of contractual agreements. Reviews and drafts standard and moderately complex agreements for conformity with University contracting standards, and coordinates the review of complex or non-standard agreements with Dell Medical School Healthcare Contracts Manager. Maintains the contract records and reporting, and provides guidance and training to departmental personnel on University contracting requirements and processes. This position operates under the direction of Dell Medical Healthcare Contracts Manager. Consistently adhere to contract and document tracking requirements. Maintain strong problem-solving skills in collaboration with internal and external contacts, which emphasizes strong commitment to provide excellent customer service. Utilize strong organizational skills combined with an ability to organize and follow through with all projects relating to contracts. Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Supports the intake and processing of variety of agreements including healthcare-specific agreements common to an academic medical center, including business associate agreements, revenue generation, software purchase agreements, equipment agreements, services agreements, clinical affiliation and rotation agreements, physician and professional services agreements, and agreements involving protected health information, consistent with HIPAA.
- Reviews, drafts, revises, and negotiates service agreements, statements of work, non-disclosure agreements, data use agreements, and amendments in accordance with established University and Dell Medical School contracting standards and policies.
- Provides review of agreements for conformity with the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Regents, UT System and UT Austin policy, and applicable State of Texas and federal law; identifies deviations from approved positions and ensures required modifications are incorporated.
- Performs contract administration tasks including routing for approval and signature, distribution of executed agreements, and reporting.
- Verifies and maintains contract data in the contract management system; maintains and improves filing systems for agreements and related documents.
- Coordinates and conducts reporting to identify expiring, renewing, and terminating agreements on a timely basis, and notifies responsible departments in advance of applicable deadlines.
- Corresponds with vendors and Dell Medical School personnel regarding contract terms, including conveying the University’s standard positions and required provisions, identifying business and operational implications of proposed terms, and escalating questions requiring legal interpretation.
- Provides departments with clear and timely information regarding the status of submitted agreements, required approvals, and final negotiated terms.
- Provides training and written guidance to Dell Medical School personnel on University, UT System, Board of Regents, and State of Texas contracting and procurement processes and procedures.
- Serves as a resource to departmental and team members on contracting practice, intake requirements, and documentation standards. Develops and revises procedures and guidance documents related to the Dell Medical School contracts process. Other related functions as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College/University with major in business or similar.
- High attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in a professional manner as both a self-starter and a team member. Strong business process skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle pressure and difficult situations while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Products.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous contract administration experience at a Texas institution of higher education.
- Prior experience with contract management software Jaggaer – Contracts +, and Docusign.
- Prior experience in a law office environment or in general business, reviewing, analyzing, drafting, or negotiating contracts.
Salary Range
$51,027+ depending on qualifications
Travel Required: Less than 5%.
Working Conditions: Work within standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at workstation is required. Conversing on the phone throughout the day. Climbing stairs as required. Ability to work with a scanner, and copier throughout the day. Lift, carry and file paper files. Use of manual dexterity. Security and confidentiality sensitivity. Criminal background check will be conducted. Continuously work with a high volume of contracts and under pressure of deadlines. Working more than forty hours per week may be required. Work in shared office space with noise and other distractions. This position may include remote work.
