Job Description – Assistant Vice President (AVP), Investment Banking – Equity

Location: Mumbai / Bangalore

Experience: 5+ Years

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Vice President (AVP) – Investment Banking (Equity) to play a key role across business development, transaction execution, sector coverage, and investor/client relationship management. The role requires the ability to independently originate, lead, execute, and close transactions while building strong relationships across the investment ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Business Development: Develop client networks, originate new opportunities, and drive client acquisition.
• Client & Investor Relationships: Build and manage long-term relationships with clients, investors, and other key stakeholders.
• Sector Coverage: Independently manage sector coverage, develop deep sector knowledge, and generate new business.
• Transaction Execution: Work across transactions from initial client pitches through execution and closing, including equity transactions, M&A, and strategic advisory assignments .
• Deal Leadership: Independently manage investor outreach, pitches, negotiations, third-party advisors, definitive documentation, and transaction closure.
• Strategic Advisory: Effectively communicate financial, regulatory, valuation, and strategic matters to clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills

• MBA in Finance/Economics, CA, CFA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
• Strong transaction execution and deal-closing capabilities .
• Strong financial modelling, accounting, and business valuation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong understanding of valuation methodologies, including comparable company/transaction analysis and DCF.
• Ability to independently manage transactions and lead/mentor teams.

Experience & Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with an investment bank or private equity advisory firm.
• Strong transaction experience across multiple transaction types.
• Experience managing client relationships and day-to-day transaction execution.
• Existing exposure/network within the Venture Capital and Private Equity ecosystem in India .
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
