Known for advising some of the world's most consequential companies through their highest-stakes transactions and disputes, the firm has built an internal Data & AI organization to match that ambition, bringing modern, product-grade engineering practices into one of the most traditional industries there is.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with hands-on technical leadership experience, someone who can drive strategic technical decisions while still being deeply embedded in the code. This team builds custom, production-grade AI-driven solutions across litigation, M&A, finance, and HR, including document extraction and classification, privilege log review with automated challenge-letter generation, structured extraction of M&A contract terms for deal analysis, and AI-powered summarization of complex, multi-page documents.

This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days onsite in Chicago, IL.

What You'll Do

• Lead and drive technical decisions for one of three AI engineering pods.
• Build custom, production-grade AI-driven solutions across litigation, M&A, finance, and HR
• Drive projects to completion independently, solving problems creatively without excessive oversight
• Present well-researched options to business stakeholders when gathering context for technical decisions
• Mentor and guide developers on your pod
• Work across the stack: .NET, React, Azure (containers, infrastructure as code), Python workers, plugin development, and MCP servers
• Incorporate AI-assisted coding tools (such as Codex) into day-to-day development

Required

• At least 8 years of experience, with a proven track record of driving technical decisions and mentoring others
• Hands-on experience building production-ready solutions with embedded AI
• Strong experience with .NET, React, and Azure (container-based infrastructure, infrastructure as code)
• Comfortable with AI-assisted coding tools like Codex
• Demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion independently, with creative problem-solving
• Strong communication skills, comfortable presenting well-researched options to support business decision-making
• Background in large enterprise environments with complex team structures and stable deployment processes
