This Opportunity The Assistant Construction Manager role is a position within the WSP program management team supporting CTDOT during construction of the Walk Bridge Replacement Program in Norwalk, CT. This position provides day‑to‑day technical, coordination, and documentation support to the Construction Managers and assists with integrating construction‑phase information into program reporting, change management, and issue tracking processes. In person attendance at the program office in Norwalk, CT is required. The role supports construction coordination by preparing reports and cost information, maintaining logs and tracking tools, documenting meetings, and facilitating communication among CTDOT, CE&I staff, designers, and the program management team. The position is designed to support the effective performance of senior Construction Managers and to provide early‑career exposure to large, complex transportation construction programs. Your Impact Program Reporting & Documentation * Assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly program reports related to construction progress, issues, risks, and schedule activities. * Prepare draft technical memoranda, briefing materials, and presentations to support CTDOT and Program Management needs. * Record, prepare, and distribute meeting agendas and minutes for construction‑related meetings. * Track action items and follow‑up items to support issue resolution. Change Management & Cost Support * Assist with development of construction‑phase cost estimates related to Design Issue Change Orders (DICOs) and potential changes. * Maintain logs and tracking tools for DICOs, potential changes, and other construction‑related items. * Coordinate with Construction Managers to update potential change logs and provide summary information for program reporting. Construction Coordination Support * Support coordination between the Construction Managers, CEI staff, designers, and program management team members. * Assist with organizing and tracking design‑construction interface issues requiring follow‑up or resolution. * Support third‑party coordination efforts (railroad, utilities, other agencies) by preparing correspondence, tracking responses, and organizing information. Schedule, Risk & Controls Support * Coordinate with Project Controls staff to support construction‑related schedule, cost, and risk reporting. * Assist with tracking emerging issues, risks, and mitigation actions identified during construction meetings. * Maintain and update the program Commitment Tracking Log and support coordination and reporting of commitment and closure. * Help organize and maintain issue resolution logs, commitment tracking inputs, and construction‑related program records. Who You Are Required Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field * Minimum 3-5 years of post-education experience supporting construction, design, or program management activities.
