About the organization: Compass Family Services is a 100+ year old nonprofit working on the front lines of San Francisco’s homeless crisis. We provide families experiencing or at risk of homelessness with comprehensive support to address immediate needs and ensure long-term success. About the team: Compass Behavioral Health Services (CBHS) provides crisis intervention and trauma informed therapy to families engaged in Compass Family Services programs. Our services reflect our understanding of the complexities of trauma as well as the range of traumatic experiences. Compass Family Services has created systems to train and support the staff on providing these trauma sensitive services to the families. Our approach involves training and education, supervision and support, attention to self-care for both the individual and the organization, attention to creating a welcoming and safe environment, and development of policies and procedures that reflect our understanding of how trauma has impacted the families. Salary: $130,000 – 140,000 annually Schedule: Monday – Friday, standard business hours Location: 37 Grove Street, San Francisco. Fully in-person (not hybrid or remote). Organizational Core Competencies: Accountable / Adaptable / Client-centered / Collaborative / Committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging / Resourceful Description: This position provides both clinical and operational leadership for Compass Behavioral Health Services (CBHS). The Clinical Program Director oversees the day-to-day operations of the program, provides clinical oversight and supervision to therapists and clinical supervisors, and ensures the successful integration of behavioral health services into Compass Family Services. Specific responsibilities include:
- Provide clinical oversight and direct supervision for Clinical Supervisors and Therapist IIs, ensuring BBS compliance, guiding case assignments, and stepping in as backup supervisor when needed.
- Serve as the clinical expert for the agency, providing trauma-informed consultation on complex cases and maintaining organizational documentation and clinical forms.
- Champion strategic growth initiatives, including collaborating with consultants to design and launch Medi-Cal billing pathways for CBHS.
- Oversee day-to-day program operations and staff development, including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, and leading team meetings.
- Represent CBHS to external partners and funders to build strong inter-agency relationships and support broader community collaboration.
- Manage grant compliance and program reporting, including writing monthly board reports and funder updates, and assisting the Development team with grant proposals.
- Partner with Finance, IT, and internal evaluation teams to steward the program budget, optimize Salesforce data workflows, and drive continuous quality standards.
- Licensure: Active Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) credential required. Must be in good standing with CA state licensing board. Valid license in CA required at start date.
- At least 2 years of clinical supervision experience
- At least 3 years of program management experience
- At least 3 years of experience supervising teams
- Knowledge and understanding of diagnosis, terminology, and record charting standards
- Extensive experience with behavioral health services, including crisis intervention, developmental theory, trauma informed care, etc.
- Experience with program implementation and design, and project management.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Experience working with low-income or unhoused individuals or families.
- Deep commitment to and demonstrated success, discussing, integrating, and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging throughout a complex and dynamic organization.
- Experience with Medi-Cal billing and procedures
- Fluency in Spanish
- Salary range: $130,000 - $140,000 annually. Full time exempt.
- Paid time off: 4 weeks of vacation your first year, 5 in your second. Also paid holidays, sick time, family leave.

- Retirement: after one year of work, Compass contributes an amount equal to 5% of your salary into a retirement account; this vests during years 2-6.
