Senior Manager Accounting - Islamabad

Mohsyn · Islamabad, Islamabad Capital Territory, Pakistan

FULL TIME

Job Description

Experience Level: 4–8 years
Type: Full-time · Onsite
Location: Islamabad
Reports to: CEO/CFO

About the Role

We’re looking for a Sr. Manager Accounting who can take ownership of Mohsyn’s accounting function and make sure that as the business grows, our financial foundations grow stronger with it.

Working closely with the CEO/CFO, you’ll be responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of Mohsyn’s financial records and reporting. From month-end closing and financial statements to taxation, controls, audits, reconciliations, and compliance, you’ll ensure that the numbers leadership relies on are complete, accurate, and decision-ready.

But this role is about more than keeping the books in order.

We’re looking for someone who thinks like an owner — someone who can identify gaps before they become problems, strengthen controls without creating unnecessary bureaucracy, improve processes through technology and automation, and build an accounting function capable of supporting Mohsyn through its next stage of growth.

You’ll work closely with FP&A and leadership, providing the reliable financial foundation upon which forecasting, fundraising, investor reporting, and strategic decisions are built.

What You’ll Do

  • Own Mohsyn’s end-to-end accounting function , ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately, completely, and in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close , ensuring accurate and timely preparation of the P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statement, and supporting schedules.

  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger , including journal entries, accruals, provisions, prepayments, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, and other accounting adjustments.

  • Own and review balance sheet reconciliations , ensuring outstanding items are investigated and resolved on a timely basis.

  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, collections, vendor payments, expense accounting, and related processes .

  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition and expense recording , with appropriate documentation and treatment in line with applicable accounting standards.

  • Take ownership of Mohsyn’s taxation and statutory compliance , including income tax, sales tax and other applicable filings, payments, documentation, and coordination with external tax advisors where required.

  • Lead coordination with external auditors , including preparation of audit schedules, supporting documentation, responses to audit queries, and timely closure of annual audits.

  • Develop, implement, and continuously strengthen internal financial controls , ensuring appropriate checks and balances while keeping processes practical and efficient.

  • Establish and maintain clear accounting policies, SOPs, approval matrices, and documentation standards across the organisation.

  • Work closely with the CEO/CFO and FP&A function to ensure actual financial performance is accurately reflected in budgets, forecasts, management reporting, and financial models .

  • Provide accurate financial information and supporting documentation for investor reporting, fundraising activities, due diligence, and data-room requirements .

  • Monitor working capital , including receivables, payables, and cash movements, and highlight potential risks or opportunities to leadership.

  • Ensure proper management and reconciliation of bank accounts, payment channels, and cash balances .

  • Review financial transactions and expense patterns to identify errors, control gaps, unusual movements, cost leakages, or opportunities for process improvement .

  • Support the CEO/CFO in developing management accounts, financial reports, board/investor information, and other financial analysis when required.

  • Drive improvements in Mohsyn’s accounting systems and processes , using technology, automation, and AI where appropriate to reduce manual work and improve accuracy.

  • Build an accounting environment that is consistently audit-ready , rather than preparing for compliance only when an audit or due-diligence exercise begins.

  • As the business scales, help build, structure, and develop the accounting team , setting clear responsibilities, standards, and expectations for the function.

What We’re Looking For

Must Have

  • CA Finalist from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP).

  • 4-8 years of relevant experience across accounting, financial reporting, audit, taxation, financial controls, or a similar finance function.

  • Strong understanding of financial accounting and reporting , including preparation and review of the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.

  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS and applicable accounting standards , with the ability to apply accounting principles to real business situations.

  • Hands-on experience with month-end and year-end closing, general ledger management, reconciliations, accruals, provisions, and financial statement preparation .

  • Working knowledge of Pakistan taxation and statutory compliance , including relevant income tax and sales tax requirements.

  • Experience coordinating with external auditors, tax consultants, and other professional advisors .

  • Strong understanding of internal controls, financial governance, and accounting processes .

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets , with the ability to work comfortably with large datasets, reconciliations, schedules, and financial reports.

  • High attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership — you’re someone who wants to understand why a number doesn’t reconcile rather than simply carrying the difference forward.

  • Ability to balance accuracy and control with speed and practicality , particularly in a growing organisation.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to communicate financial matters clearly to senior leadership and non-finance stakeholders.

  • Comfortable working directly with senior leadership and taking ownership with relatively little hand-holding.

  • Comfortable operating in a primarily remote environment , with the discipline, ownership, and communication required to stay aligned and deliver independently.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience with a Big Four or reputable audit/accounting firm , whether through articles or professional employment.

  • Experience working in a startup, technology company, high-growth business, or investor-backed organisation .

  • Exposure to fundraising, investor due diligence, financial data rooms, or investor reporting .

  • Experience implementing or improving an ERP, accounting system, or finance automation platform .

  • Experience building accounting processes or controls in an organisation that is scaling rapidly or transitioning from founder-led finance to a more structured finance function .

  • Familiarity with cap tables, equity transactions, or accounting considerations associated with investment rounds .

  • An interest in using AI, automation, and technology to make accounting processes faster, smarter, and more reliable.

Education & Professional Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline .

The candidate must be a CA Finalist from ICAP , having completed the required professional training/articles and progressed to the final stage of the Chartered Accountancy qualification.

Why Join Us

At Mohsyn, we hire the best — and then trust them to do what they do best. No micromanagement, no unnecessary layers. Just ownership, autonomy, and the freedom to make an impact.

Every voice matters here, and in this role, you’ll be responsible for something fundamental to everything Mohsyn wants to achieve: trust in our numbers . Working closely with the CEO/CFO, you’ll help build the financial foundation that allows leadership to plan confidently, investors to trust what they see, and the business to grow without losing control of the fundamentals.

Your impact will extend well beyond closing the books each month. You’ll have the opportunity to shape how accounting is done at Mohsyn — strengthening controls, improving systems, introducing automation, challenging inefficient processes, and building a finance environment that can comfortably support a much larger organisation than the one we are today.

And while this role may sit behind the numbers, the purpose behind those numbers is very human . Mohsyn exists to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we care for, many of whom are elderly. Building a financially disciplined, compliant, and sustainable organisation helps ensure that we can continue delivering that care, reach more people, and build something that lasts. There’s a different kind of fulfilment in knowing that the financial foundations you put in place help make that possible.

And you won’t be sitting on the sidelines. From early on, you’ll have real ownership of the function, real problems to solve, and direct access to the people making the decisions. We’ll give you the space to question how things are done, build better ways of doing them, and create processes that others can rely on — with the support to learn quickly and the opportunity to grow as fast as your ambition takes you.

We believe exceptional people do exceptional work when they feel trusted, supported, heard, and excited about where they work. That’s the kind of team we’re building at Mohsyn: collaborative, curious, low on ego, big on ownership, and high on impact.
